Hi alanms73,

I am happy to assist. Is the amp being seem by Fender FUSE? If so, you should be able to select your amp by going to Edit/Preferences/Devices and selecting it in the Recording device entry as 'Mustang' from the list. If your amp is not being seen by Fender FUSE or in the Audacity Preferences Devices window, I would suggest trying to connect it to a second PC (if possible) to confirm that the USB post on the amp is working. Please let me know how this goes and we can go from there. Thanks.

hello Alan

thank you for the speedy reply, much appreciated.
I have no problem connecting to Fender Fuse, the pc picks that up automatically.
When i look under preferences in Audacity the mustang is not listed. I have also tried
with a second laptop and get the same result. I also have a digitech guitar effects processor
which audacity picks up without a problem. I thought perhaps it is a driver issue so i downloaded
the fender driver that came on the CD but still no joy...
Thanks again for your assistance in this regard.

I have made recordings with this config, I did have to install the AISO driver, is that what you installed from the CD?

Maybe try downloading the most recent version of the driver from the Fender site and try again? DOWNLOAD HERE

Another option is to use the headphone output to line in on your sound card (assuming it has a line-in). But I'm sure you're looking to use the USB for recording, so please try downloading the driver from Fender.com and let us know how it goes....

Hi alanms73,

It should be possible for you to see the amp in Audacity under the Recording devices with the Windows Direct Sound or MME drivers selected. If you would like, please send an email to me and include your Forum name, real name and your operating system, installed version of Fender FUSE and installed version of Audacity, and I will be glad to offer some additional support that way.

Thank you very much for the advice and support, much appreciated.
I have installed the latest version of Audacity and the latest ASIO drivers. I have also re-installed Fender Fuse (a few times ). I have managed through this process to get Audacity to work on my work laptop which is running Windows 7 profesional...Yay! however it will not run on my home machine...which is the one I use for recording etc. Basically the pc doesnt give me the "Internal Aux Jack" option under the recording tab under " System Sounds".

I think it might be because on my home machine I am running Windows 7 starter.

It would be great if someone could confirm this is the problem before I make Bill Gates even wealthier by upgrading my current windows SW.

Thanks again!

Hi alanms73,

Did you have a chance to send in an email yet? It sounds like we may have a few variables here. My general approach is to eliminate all possible confusion and start with the most minimal set up and go form there. In other words, If Fender FUSE is working, great. Leave that. Next I would focus on Audacity without an ASIO driver. See if we can get it working 'stock' with built-in drivers. Then look at the additional possible areas of concern, ASIO driver, Win 7 Starter compatibility, etc. But please send an email in if you have not yet, and we can go from there. Thanks. :)

I got no helpful advice but just thought I'd mention that I had no problems recording via USB on a linux machine.

Thi should be looked at first. 7 Starter is a REALLY basic OS. You can't even change the desktop background by design.
Not 100% sure though.

Same here for my Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Home, and Windows 7 Professional PC's, all 3 work 100%

...and the solution to the problem is as simple as... Under the "System Sounds" Tab, select the "Recording Tab", Right click and select show "disabled devices", Show "Disconnected Devices" and Bobs your uncle.....

Thank you Alan and the rest of you for your assistance with this one, much appreciated.

Hi, you'll most likely need to add some rules for udev so that the amp shows up. There's a few related threads on this forum that cover this or search for "udev fender mustang"

Once you have added the rules just restart udev and plug your amp in and you should then be able to select it...
