when uploading presets to the fender site, why are so many of the "authors" not including any description what-so-ever? With the vast quantity of presets available I am more inclined to listen to the presets where there is a reasonable description offered. I just don't get it...someone takes the time to put a preset together and offer it up for public consumption and then gets lazy or whatever with the upload.

maybe it's just me.

No, it's not just you !

Of course, what would be REALLY helpful would be audio previews, although I guess as these are user postings, getting any kind of consistency in sound would be a real problem. It would probably require Fender to record each preset using some standard gear - guitar. amp etc - a lot of work, and even then the preset could still sound very different when downloaded and used with your own set up.

Decent descriptions would certainly help - at least an idea of the intended style, and maybe a 'sounds like' if based on a well known player's sound.

Hi Guys,

I agree with you that it is very helpful to have information available for the Presets you want to download. It is up to the individual author to add or not add relevant information about their Preset(s). Hopefully, more authors will add more complete details to their Presets moving forward. And you guys can always raise the bar by uploading more of your own Presets with detailed descriptions as well.

Cheers,

Just to clarify...I do appreciate the folks
who take the time to put presets up on
line. I was merely suggesting that until
we can download an audio sample of the
preset a short description really helps.

It would be very nice if one could edit the description of ones own presets directly on the website, without first editing in FUSE, delete the preset online, and then uploading again. It is simply too complicated if there is a mistake in the description. However, the best thing would be like a version-control system, so one could update the preset with, say, corrected comments and tweaks and the website would keep track of the history and one could always get back to older versions, and the latest version would show up first when searching the website.

Hi Guys,

I definitely hear where you are coming from here. And I think the idea of editing the text information for your own Presets 'on the fly' so to speak directly on the web site when logged in is very interesting. I will pass it along here. Thanks.

Great idea! Thanks for passing it along Alan. After posting my presets I have often wished I could edit it: add to the description, AND add or change genres/tags etc.

Hi Doc Waters,

You are very welcome. But the idea actually came from 'madsen' above in this thread. Please let me know if I can assist further.
