Hi everyone
Im Nick and i new in this forum,
i searched alot for a subject like this but i didnt find one, maybe i missed it, so im sorry if im reposting but i need your help.
I own a Mustang II and i was wondering if TO-100,OD-400 or maybe DM-100 (im between these three) stomps of Behringer would work with my amp.
My band members and i want to do some live performances but i wont use this amp for some reasons and i want a pedal-stomp(dont know the difference, sorry) that will allow me to change from clean sound to overdrive/distortion, but i also want to use it at home also with my Mustang!!!! I'm searching for a "cheap" solution and i hope you can helpl me. Thanks in advance!! :)

I have a bunch of the Beri pedals, but I am using them with a Mustang Floor. So far the Beri T800 and the Beri CS400 are playing nice with it, mostly just using it to beef up the signal. I am running these straight into the input in the chain. I have used these same pedals with a Mustang V, before I sold it.

Welcome to the forum, Nick.

The Mustang II has the capacity for channel switching with the optional foot switch from Fender or any "latching" type foot switch will do. You can use any overdrive or distortion pedal you want to as long as you're careful with its output level. Don't set it too high or the Mustang's A/D converters will distort and sound horrible. You cannot use a pedal to distort these amps' inputs like you would an old tube amp so the only pedal I would definitely not recommend is a boost pedal... unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Have you tried the OD stompbox that is included in the Mustang modeling yet? It's pretty darn good. Or using the amp gains to get the drive you are looking for?

Edit: OK I see now you want a clean patch and then hit the OD. You could do it by setting up two patches next to each other. One clean and then the next with the modeled OD stompbox set where you want it. Then use the two button footswitch to alternate between the two.

yeah but the two buttoned switch that fender recommends only changes between two presets and works only for Mustangs... i want something that i can use as a clean/distortion pedal when im in a live performance and as a switch for my mustang!!! i dont know if thats possible ^^

I use the behringer TO800 overdrive pedal with my mustang V and it sounds very good and it is better sounding then the overdrive in the mustang,i compared the two and the behringer wins hands down!

You have to really turn up the mid and high frequency controls on the mustangs overdrive to sound ok but it is nothing like the great tone you can get from the behringer overdrive pedals,i also have a TO100 overdrive that sounds very good,i use it with my mustang I and have no problems overloading the mustangs input but as others said just do not turn up the overdrive level too high,i have mine set to a 12:00 position on my behringer overdrive pedals.

Where in the world did you get that idea? I built the switch I use for my Mustang and I can use it on ANYTHING that uses a latching foot switch. By the way, the Mustang II only has two foot switchable channels. It has lots of presets but only two are available via the foot switch... no matter who makes it. That's the way it was designed. As for an effect pedal/stomp box that doubles as a channel switching foot switch for an amp, I don't think such a thing exists. There are however, things like the Boss GT series multi-effect pedals that have the ability to control channel switching on two channel amplifiers. I've used it on my Mustang II.

I had a Mustang II but traded up to the III when it came out so I could use it for live playing. The II is great for home use but the III adds the additional power and the four button foot switch and all it's options. I now had the EXP-1 pedal to go with it and set some of my presets so it controls the amp gain. Can go from clean amp to dirty using the foot pedal. Just now exploring all the options it brings. I have some great sounding tones using the modeled OD pedal too.

I would like to hear a set of sample of the mustang with a behringer in front!

Actually i am using the internal od, i tweak the high to the max and it sounds good enough for me, and it is also good that i can manage it with the rest of the settings. This way i can keep the gear minimal. But for the price i would like to have some fun with a bheri od stomp!

I am talking about when you have a clean fender amp model selected and then add the fenders overdrive and listen to it then turn it off and put a behringer TO100 OR TO800 into the front guitar input of your mustang, you can really hear that the behringer overdrive pedals just sound better, there is more midrange and you get that classic ibanez tube screamer tone that you really do not get with the fenders overdrive also the behringer does not suck tone when it is on or off,the mustangs overdrive dulls your tone unless you have the mid and high frequencies turned up 3/4 or higher.

This is a A/B comparison without out changing any of the mustangs cab models, amp models or any other settings.

If i changed a amp or cab model then i can get the fenders overdrive to sound better and that is why many like the mustangs overdrive but never compared it to any other overdrive pedal.

That would be like comparing a good pair of more expensive audio home speakers that sound great at a flat EQ setting and then hooking up a pair of less expensive not so good sounding speakers but then increasing the bass or treble and or adding a graphic EQ to make them sound better, this is a trick that was used sometimes in home audio stores to try to make there less expensive speakers sound better when a customer did not want to pay more for the higher end ones.

I run at various times a ZenDrive, an OCD, a Green Rhino or SignaDrive even a trusty Bad Monkey through my DRRI so I know what a good OD pedal should sound like. I don't care where I have to set the knobs, if it sounds good it sounds good. Especially on a modeling amp/pedal, the tone knobs are there to use to dial in various sounding traditional OD tones so use them.

I have also run OD's into the front of the Mustang. I prefer to use the internal because I don't have to worry about over driving the digital front end and getting horrible tones and I can dial in so really good tones between that and the amp modeled gain settings. I play mostly blues so not looking for a lot of OD never have my gains set more than about 1 oclock on any of the them usually around 9-11 oclock.

Hey to each his own, just don't discard the internals until you have really tried them to their max.
