Quick Question. Are all mustang amps in stereo with headphones? I'm mostly thinking of things like the ping pong delay and such. Obviously only the Mustang IV and V are through speakers.

The last thing that I heard from Alan is that the Mustang III is stereo through the headphone jack. The Mustang I and II are mono.

Hi Guys,

All the amps in the Fender Mustang series line including the Mustang Floor output through the headphone and USB outputs in stereo. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Hi,

this post is a bit old, but I have a problem with the headphones output of a brand new Mustang I V2.

The output works perfectly when I connect a headphones (I get the guitar signal on both the right and left channel, altough I'm not sure if this is mono or stereo), but if I send a signal (an MP3 track) through the aux in jack, I hear this track ONLY on the left channel (superimposed on top of the guitar, which is still on both channels), and this is a but annoying.

I tried with different MP3s. For all of them, I can regularly use the headphone if I link it directly to the source (i.e., my phone or my laptop), but once the signal go through the Mustang it comes out only on the left channel.

Any idea why? Should I get some sort of adapter to make sure the left channel is "copied" onto the right channel as well (but shouldnt it happen automatically for a mono signal)?

Thanks,
Bob

Are these tracks from a DAW? If so, beware that mono MP3s can be two different things:
1: A joint stereo track, with the offset always zero.
2: A left-channel only track, marked as "mono" in the header.
Many cheaper players (like on phones) can only handle the first type correctly. If this is the problem, you would hear left-channel only also if plugging the phones directly into the (same) player.

If this is not the case, check the cable first. According to several posts by Fender TSL here, all the Mustangs should be able to handle stereo input.
Play a "stereo test" track to the Mustang with the speaker as the output. If you can only hear the left channel sound then too, chances are there's something wrong with the cable or the aux in jack.
If you hear both channels of a stereo test track through the speaker but not headphones, chances are there is something internally wrong in the Mustang (or that Fender TSL is wrong in stating that the aux in handles stereo when going to headphones).

I'd test it, but my Mustang is in the basement with the Foreman grill, Wii and CRT monitors.

Agreed, either something is wrong with the cable, the player, or the jack, or that's what's on those files (one channel).

Saving those CRTs for a rainy day are you? Going to stick them in your trunk for traction when it snows?

Thanks for your suggestions, you are perfectly right, it is the cable's fault. I checked it more carefully and the contact on one of the jacks is indeed defective
Thanks again
