As an example I want to use my Super Sonic 60 watt head into a 2x12 cabinet (celestions). I have a number of options to send a signal from the Mustang Floor to the SS. L(mono) out to the guitar in of the SS. L(mono) out to Effects return of SS. Or, L(mono) out to the power amp in of SS. Which method would you recommend and what setting from the Floor is best? If i'm running into the power amp in, do I set the floor for combo amp or P.A.? I also read in another thread Alan where you recommended sending a signal from the effects send of the Floor to a guitar amp? Is this instead of the L(mono) output?

Seemed in an earlier thread you weren't a big fan of using the Floor with a guitar amp as the floor is a line device. Would you clarify that a bit more? Thanks

Djstang, does the Super Sonic actually have an effects return and a power amp input? On most amps, the effects return is the power amp input. I wouldn't recommend connecting the Floor's output to the SS's main input, I'd plug it into the effects return (power amp input).

Although you can use what's called the *4CM or 4 Cable Method, you need to be very careful of the SS preamp's output level coming back into the Floor. Fender's A/D converters tend to be kind of sensitive. The other variable is that unless the Floor has a way to attenuate (lessen) the incoming signal from the amp or the amp's master volume is pre its effects send, high gain sounds will sound awful because you'll likely be clipping the Floor's A/D converter.

* 4CM is Guitar → Floor's Input → Floor FX Send → Amp Input → Amp FX Send → Floor FX Return → Floor mono output → Amp FX Return.

O.

Thanks Orcatraz - yes it has effects return and a power amp in. When I use the power amp in, the level knob on the Mustang Floor is the only way to control volume. So I would be better off going through the effects return and setting the output on the Floor to combo amp?

Hi Djstang,

I would suggest that you can try either an effects return or a power amp input. Adjust the output level as needed on the Mustang Floor and see what sounds good to you. In this case, there is not really a right or wrong answer. You might also read through the Mustang Floor Advanced user manual for additional clarification on outputs and setting for the Floor. And please let me know if I can assist further.
