Why not put the guitar input to the side of the unit or somewhere else? Using these pedal boards live and having the guitar cord plugged into the back is awckward. The expression pedal can chomp down on your cord or sometimes the cord gets wrapped up somewhere or lies across the front of the unit and gets in the way of the controls.

ps: did i spell awckward correctly? hahahahahahahahha
chip!

In any typical pedal/amp setup, the live player is likely to be standing between the pedal/s and the amp, and potentially treading all over the pedal to amp and pedal to guitar connection cables. You can perhaps avoid this with longer cable runs that take the cable off to the side and then to the amp, but longer runs aren't always a good idea, or indeed possible on smaller stages.

I'm surprised that we haven't yet seen 'wireless pedals that would reduce the cable tap dance - maybe they exist and I just haven't seen them ??
