I also have this posted in the G-DEC section but i thought i would also mention about this price drop here because the G-DEC 3 15w and 30w seem to be a better choice then the mustang I and II for what you get for your money right now.

Here is what i said: I should have mentioned this before but musicians friend and some other music outlets are selling the G-DEC 3 15w for 99.99 and the 30w for 199.99! This is a fantastic price in my opinion,i know only a few years ago these G-DEC's were 299.99 for the 15w and 399.99 for the 30w.

I bought my G-DEC 3 15w because of the price reduction, otherwise i would not buy one for the higher price. I think fender is discontinuing the G-DEC 3 but i am not sure if they are coming out with a newer model?

The GDec3 has an SD card reader slot on the front and plays MP3s directly while you can play along on your guitar, but it lacks a whole bunch of controls for the amp itself. You get a Master Volume and that's pretty much it.

The Mustang, by comparison, is set up much more like an actual guitar amp, with multiple controls for EQ, Gain, Volume, etc., and more direct control over the amp modelling presets and effects. The higher-end Mustangs were always meant more for gigging and less for bedroom practice. I always thought of the GDec3 as a bedroom practice amp because it's set up more like an "entertainment box" than a guitar amp.

I am comparing the G-DECs to only the mustang I and II and you can access the gain and eq controls plus more in G-DECs menu with the soft key buttons plus you can also hook it up to fuse software for more in depth editing.

I am having more fun with my G-DEC 15w then with my mustang I right now and i still like my mustang but with the backing tracks and the phrase looper that you can overdub on with the G-DEC it is a clear winner in my opinion for it's current price over the mustang I and II.

Having to go through menus just to adjust gain and EQs on an amp is something I can't abide... nor can I abide its looks. I find all the G-Decs to be fugly. Sorry.

I originally bought a G-DEC 3 30 with the ULT-4 footswitch but exchanged it for the M III with the MS-4 footswitch and got money back, I have since added the EXP-1. The on-board backing tracks are nice but you can't turn effects on/off with the footswitch and if you change from one preset to another the backing track no longer plays and even if it did it's a different track. I downloaded all the backing tracks that I wanted from Fender Fuse website so I can loop them in my DAW and I can also record using the loops or any other track I want.

IMO, the phrase looper is the only advantage the GDEC has over the M III although I can record loops with the DAW but it is a bit more cumbersome and I can't do it on the fly.

Do i have to repeat myself again? The mustang III-V is in a different league then the mustang I and II,the G-DEC 15 and 30w with there current price reduction is more fun and a better deal then the mustang I and II,you cannot switch effects off and on with the MI or MII,there is also no lcd display on these mustangs, the lcd display on the G-DEC is better then the ones on the mustang III-V in my opinion,it is easier to see and it has better graphics.

You guys could bash the G-DEC all you want but for there current price you just cannot go wrong.

Orcatraz, get your head out of the sand and try a G-DEC out first before you bash it!

I've heard the G-Dec and yes it sounds fine, but really, not better than the Mustang I or II.
Even if it is cheaper now, I already have the MII and I already have to deal with enough menus on my other devices (GT-8) - I don't need more of that on an amp.... and it's still fugly.

I am not going to win you over and everyone has there own opinion on what they like or dislike. I also have the mustang I and V and it is nice to have some different features and amp models that the G-DEC has but the mustang does not and visa versa, that is why i like both of these amps for a good variety of features and fun.

I mean no offense and i just wanted to let everyone know about my opinion of the G-DEC 3.

I took no offense, Metalman50, and I hope you took no offense at my opinion on its looks. If there is one feature in the G-Dec that does intrigue me, it's the Dyna-Touch models. I do wish the Mustangs had that. As for the rest of the G-Dec's features, I already have all of them on my MacBook Pro... or in the Mac Pro in my studio.

Peace,
O.

I have had the G-Dec 3 30 watt for a long time. It is probably the first amp that I ever bought that I did not end up with buyers remorse. I have enjoyed it from the very first day. It easily replaced the VOX AD50VT and the Marshal SS half stack I was using before. Although I have since bought a Carvin V3M tube amp and effects pedals, I still use the G-Dec daily.

This big price drop intrigues me though! It has me wondering if there is a new model coming out soon (G-DEC 4 maybe)!

Truebluefliplover,i am glad that you like your G-DEC 30,i still see musicians friend and some other music outlets still have the G-DEC 30 for 199.99,i thought they would be sold out by now?

I think the original price of the G-DEC 3 was too high and when the mustang's came out with there lower price compared to the G-DEC's the sales of the G-DEC's tanked and i would say fender waited too long before they lowered the price of the G-DEC's so they most likely decided just to close them out.

I am not sure if fender will come out with a G-DEC 4 unless they add more features like the mustang has and i also think the price could not be twice as much as a comparable sized mustang because they might not sell that good, for example a new G-DEC 4 30w should be no more then 300.00,and that may even be too high to compete with the mustang II by comparison.

I now own a Mustang II a Mini and a GDEC 3-30 (I had a Junior and a 15 for a short period also). The 30, has a stereo output on the back for additional speakers. I haven't used that feature yet but If you wanted a bigger sound, that might help. The 15 doesn't have that feature. I like the MINI and the 30 just as much as the II, but the 30 allows more control over backing track volume levels and the digital display and controls are set up so the features can be dialed in. FUSE software and the presets and backing tracks are, for me, fun to play along with. I'd say those prices are good for these 2 amps.
