So we just got our amp and my wife took her first Guitar lessons and when she got home the the came on the big brown truck.

She learned to tune her guitar but now we need to figure out if the amp is correctly setup for the guitar.

Can someone please offer setup advice?

Thanks so much!

You can do a lot with just the knobs on the amp itself as far as getting a sound you like. Definitely read the manual that came with the amp to learn how the effects knobs (MOD/DLY/REVERB) work. Pick the '57 Deluxe, '69 Bassman or '65 Twin Reverb to start with - the Twin has the nicest clean tone right off the bat, and go from there.

I would choose one of the preset sounds you like the most from the yellow bank of stock tones that come on the amp. Once you begin changing settings using the knobs, you'll see the red SAVE knob light up. If you find a setting you like, hit save and the settings you came up with will be saved as a preset to one of the spots on either the red or green banks of LEDs.

After you get comfortable with the basics, I would hook it up to the FUSE software that comes with the amp, or is available for download from Fender's site. With it, you will be able to create presets and tones from the ground up, with many more parameters that can be adjusted as to amp settings, effects, and etc.

I have a Mustang II, and am really happy with it. Good luck with yours, I hope you have as much sonic fun with yours as I do with mine.

Hi Bambam26,

CharlesTY has given you some good information here. A couple of additional tips here would be that if you want to turn the effects off entirely on the amp, turn the Mod and Dly/Rev knobs down to zero. One more is that if you change a number of Presets on your amp and are unhappy with them, you can reset the amp by holding down the Exit button while starting the amp. That will restore the amp to factory default settings. Then you can edit again from stock. Please see the link below for the Fender FUSE software download and other useful information and links. And enjoy your new amp! Please let me know if I can assist further.
