Hello, I just got a new Mustang 1 amp a couple of days ago. This is my first post on the forum and my first modeling amp. I'm really impressed with the amp and also the fuse software!

My question is about a fairly loud "pop" sound my amp makes when I turn the power switch off. It only happens when switching off, and will do it regardless of how the master volume or other knobs are set. I purchased the amp at my local Guitar Center (it was in an unopened box), and it made the noise from the first time I used it. I actually took it back to the store for them to check it, and they said they weren't sure if that was normal or not. They exchanged it for another new one in a box, and it does the same thing.

Maybe this is normal, but I want to make sure there is not a real problem here. I hope not, as I really like this little amp!

Thanks for any advice.

I was actually surprised that mine didn't do this. I have a II, but I can't imagine there is that much difference. I can leave the volume cranked on the amp and guitar and it doesn't make a sound. Do you leave the volume knobs on your guitar up? I had a stage 112 that did this unless I had the volume all the way down on everything and then disconnected the lead in...perhaps try that?

The amp pops when the power is switched off even if nothing is plugged into the input jack. It never pops when changing settings or turning knobs, and does not pop when playing. Also, it does not pop when plugging or unplugging a guitar to the input jack on the amp with the amp powered on. Only when the power is switched off. I thought maybe an internal grounding issue?

Edited to add: I just tried it with headphones plugged in, and it pops through the phones and the amp speaker when powered off

Thanks

OK, now I've plugged the amp into a power strip. The pop still happens when shut down the with power strip and not turning the switch on the amp off.

Is this normal? No one else has a Mustang 1 that pops when shut down?

Hi CBR,

I would not worry about the pop when you power down. If the noise gets louder or somehow increases in intensity, please let us know. Thanks.

hi i just got the fender mustang mini amp too, and mine makes that same little pop sound when i switch it off (i purchased the 2 year warranty with mine / where i am thats an IN store deal!! meaning i will not have to deal with the manufacturer / the Store will replace the thing for me (this amp has a new feature (to me) i own 3 electric amps and that is you can plug & unplug your amp cord from guitar or amp without powering down the amp and you will not get that loud crash / bang sound (you do hear a little sound yeah) but i just tested the feature, and to me thats pretty cool!!!! had my guitar cranked up full volume too i think when we power off the amp it is just a normal thing.
