I bought a Mustang V and sold it about three months after I got it because of the artifacty issues. I was getting some very usable tones, but I just did not like the amplification section. Then the floor model came out. I have been watching the reviews and I really have not seen any really bad one's besides the effects loop not being assignable and you are stuck with only a pre setting, I can probably live with that one and just run my modulation effects in the out's before it hits the amp if I need them.

I always like the way the effects settings were arranged on the Mustang V and the Mustang Floor is the pretty much the same. The main reason I bought the Mustang Floor is for practice and using it as a DI for recording. I have a Fender Frontman 212r as a back up for my tube amps, so I am going to give that thing a try with the floor unit and see what I can do with it first. With the cleans I get out of the Frontman I am thinking it will make a nice setup for the amp modeling and stuff the floor offers.

I currently have three tube amps, Blues Deluxe Reissue, 1993 Blues Deville and an Egnater Tweaker 15. I also have an attenuator to tame them down for recording and about $1300.00 of effects to run with them when I want to switch them on. They all work well for low level recording work, but for when I want a cranked up wall of guitar sound I run into issues and it always seems to sound like a bunch of pissed off bumble bees in a can.

I have had a few multi effects units and one of them was a Zoom G9.2tt and it was lame compared to the sounds I got in the recordings I did with the Mustang V, so I am thinking the Floor should give me the same results. I straight up despise anything Line 6 makes and compare them to the happy Mac and Apple people setups. I have around $5000.00 of Fender musical equipment now and I like the tones I get with all of their equipment.

I am not looking for the Mustang Floor to replace any of my current amps, just looking at it as a tool in my songwriting and creativity, but it has to have good tone to pull me into the process...

Hi majorbytes,

Thanks very much for taking the time to offer your thoughts regarding the range of Fender products you own and have owned. We value your patronage and feedback very much. You will find that the Fender Mustang Floor has all the models and effects that the Fender Mustang III-V have with a couple of extras thrown in. I am confident that you will enjoy it. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Fedex showed up today with the new Mustang Floor today and for the past four or five hours I have been going through the presets and picking the tones I like. Tried it through the Fender Frontman 212r for awhile and got some pretty good stuff out of it, but it was not as thick as I like, so I hooked up my pedal board to the Mustang Floor just like I do my tube amps. Overdrives and compression straight in and the modulation effects in the loop. Damn that made a big difference and I remembered why I liked the Mustang V, because it can handle my overdrives just like a regular amp and not mush out like the Zoom G9 did.

I am finding that the Hardwire CM2 is a perfect pedal to thicken the tone up with the Mustang Floor and it is a good clean sound. Also my modulation effects are nice in the loop and handle just as well as my tube amps effects loop.

So after toying with the Frontman 212r, I really could not get it up to the volume I wanted it to be, but I will tomorrow, I decided to hook it up to my Mackie. I moved the preset to 80's Clean Metal, ran the headphone out to two channels, kicked the Lexicon MX200 on with a vocal hall reverb and detune. Two hours later all I can say is if it records like I am hearing it in the headphones the mixes are going to sound damn good. I was playing a Standard Strat with Dimarzio Area 58/67/61 pickups with 11's loaded up on it.

Installing the Fuse software to get it dialed in now and I might even buy the soft case for it if no magic smoke escapes from it by the end of the week...

BTW, thanks for that response Alan. I will probably make a video review and a soundtrack sometime soon....

Hi majorbytes,

Cool. I'm glad the Fender Mustang Floor is working well for you. In regard to the output sound "thickness", you may want to check out the Cab sim also as it affects the effects send as well unless the Amp model is bypassed (press Amp button). Please let me know if I can assist further. And let me know when you get your video made.

After working almost two days with headphones getting some tones that will track good, I have found a few, well more than a few. I took a break from the headphones this evening and cranked up my Blues Deluxe Reissue. There is nothing that can compare to the sound of a good amp moving the air and punching you in the gut with 40 tube watts of thick tone...

The Mustang Floor is probably going to work for recording, but for satisfaction of my primeval instincts, my tube amps are the ticket they ride...
