Bonjour. I own a Mustang 3 (purchased last december) and it works amazingly. I love it. It's possibly the best modelling amp out there.

Anyway, earlier i was reading up on the FX loop out the back and i found i could connect my old 17w (i think...) amp to the "out" port, and if i turned off all the effects on the 17w amp it would basically play exactly the same thing as my Mustang plays which i found amazing.

But then i got on to thinking: could i connect a cabinet to my mustang. I thought that if i had like 6 splitters then i could connect 7 amps, but why connect amps if i could connect a cabinet? If i could connect like a marshall cabinet

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marshall-1936 ... 500wt_1076

then not only would that be amazing, but it would amplify the amazing Mustang effects.

tl;dr: can you connect a cabinet to a Mustang 3?

Thanks

-Bill

Bill, the MIII was not designed to power external cabinets and you cannot power external cabinets with the effects loop output. Each cabinet would need its own power amp for it to work.

If you want an external speaker cabinet, you should have gone with the Mustang V. It cost roughly the same as the Mustang III, but it's a head and it has 50% more power AND stereo. For $600, I bought the head and the cabinet for it and it's loud as all hell (the Marshall JVM is louder still. ^.^ )

Hi billmoore123,

The effects loop on the Fender Mustang III was intended for a couple of things. Number one, it was intended for sending signal to and returning signal from an external effects device. Number two, alternatively, it can be used as a line output to go to a PA system, monitor system or recording setup. If you would like to drive effects to a separate amp, you might consider the Fender Mustang Floor. It has some unique features such as amp bypass that could allow it to be output to the amp your talking about and be used as a programmable effects pedal board.

With that said, you would be buying basically the same modeling again. Either way, it is a line output and is meant for line level inputs. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Best Regards,
