Hi, has anyone been able to get a good tone out of an acoustic guitar plugged in a Mustang III?

The best tone I was able to get was with the Fender Twin patch, and it doesn't sound great.

Thanks,
Eric

The Twin amp model with all gain rolled off and tweaking the eq, and maybe some gentle compression and reverb, is probably your best bet, but truthfully acoustic guitar really isn't these amps' best thing.

There are a number of presets in the online Fuse library that provide a starting point for using the Mustangs with acoustics; some are better than others but I'm not really convinced by any of them.

I tried the Twin, but I didn't roll off the gain... I'll try that.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't have a III, but I have been using my Mustang II as a monitor for acoustic gigs, and it works pretty well. It's not a good as a real acoustic amp, but for use as a stage monitor it's fine.
I've been using a preset with the British 60's (Vox) model called Acoustic Crystal Clear that I downloaded from the Fuse forum. With a bit of tweaking, it really sounds nice. Like a poster above said, I added a little compression, delay and reverb to fatten things up a bit.
He's right about the gain also; use it set way down, like 1.
Take a look for that preset, and see if that helps you. I've gotten to like it so much, I use it for clean electric playing as well sometimes.

I just plug my electric guitar into my BOSS AC-3 Acoustic Simulator and run that into a clean amp model like the Twin Reverb or Deluxe Reverb (with low gain) and it's a beautiful thing.

I use the '57 Deluxe, SAG on "Less", BIAS at -25% and cabinet emulation Off, Gain on 1.5.

Thanks for the replies. I like the Twin Amp with no gain.. I'll try the other suggestions tonight.

Using it as a monitor is a great idea. Do you go from the output of the mixer into the input of your amp?

Thanks
Eric

No; I have an A/B box that I run a line out of to the amp, and the other line to the mixer. I use a clean boost pedal (MXR Micro Amp) on the line to the mixer to give me a volume boost for solos and melody parts.

ok. I tried to plug my guitar and mic in my Maki mixer, and plug the output to my amp input, and it works pretty good. Not sure if it would be good enough for a live gig.. I'll have to test it out.

Thanks
Eric
