Hi everyone,

This is my first post here. I searched the forums for an answer but couldn't find one; hopefully someone can help me! I am a happy Mustang II owner, but am having trouble gigging with it b/c of a volume issue (note: I play a Mexican-made American 60's Strat.)

My problem: Regardless of the amp setting/onboard presets I am using (e.g. "Metal 2000" or "'65 Deluxe"), almost NO effects come through unless the volume ON MY GUITAR is set from 80-100% - they all sound muddled, like a pathetic version of each pre-set that loses its awesome flavor that only seems to appear at high volume.

Is there any way that I can get the FULL effect of a preset with my guitar volume turned much lower??? That would be really helpful, so that when I solo I can turn my volume way up. Obviously simply turning up the master volume or even pre-set volume will not help.

THANKS FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!

Have you checked the wiring/volume pot on your guitar?

Hey ajav85,

One thing is for sure. The lower the volume on your guitar, the less the amp and effects are being driven. That's true for any amp. I can bring up a high gain preset and turn the guitar volume to 2 and that killer high gain amp model turns into a Fisher Price radio. Is this the behavior you're experiencing?

Loren,

Fisher-price is an apt way to describe it! This seems like a huge problem though; what is the point of being able to change the volume on your guitar if the amp only sounds right or functions b/w 8 and 10??? Is there ANY way at all to make this function better, even if just at a volume of "5" or "6"? If not, it seems like soloing over a band w/ a Mustang is impossible :(

The amp effects sound incredible at full volume, but not great with much less.

Have you tried boosting the gain/volume of the presets?

Yes, it doesn't really matter. Oh well, I guess Mustangs/modeling amp thing. Maybe I can turn around and quickly twist "Master Volume" on stage haha

Have you ever played the same guitar with a real tube-amp? I bet, you will experience the same "strange" behavior.
The Mustang modells it quite well, that is what it was designed for.
