Okay, so I finally found my serial number. I had to download it. I typed that in on Amplitude fender. NOW it wants an authorization code TOO! So it sends me to IK Multimedia. Now THEY want a Digital ID SO I can get the authorization!!! This is getting more and more difficult. I wonder if I'll be able to hook up to the comp now. I'm not computer savvy as it is, but geesh!

I found the authorization code! :)

Now, when I open Amplitude, I can hear my guitar through the amp but not the speakers. And when I change cabs/amps, it doesn't change, it sounds the same as I have on the settings on my amp already.

Do I have to set it up somehow? I've played around with it, but can't figure it out. The speakers I do have with my comp, I'll note, came with it. They're not particularly good speakers, not like monitors that are made for this type of thing.

AmpliTube is a software product made my IK Multimedia that emulates a guitar amp on your computer. All you need is an audio input signal that the program will use as if it was a guitar signal. Then it modifies it just like a guitar amplifier, emulating the preamp, EQ, power amp, even the speaker cabinets and speaker types, microphone positions, room size, yadda yadda. What you end up with is the final sound out of your computer speakers that sounds almost exactly like the real thing.

It does not interface with your Mustang amplifier at all. The Mustang Amp just acts as a digital input interface for your guitar through the USB cable.

What you want to do is install/run Fender FUSE.

FUSE is the piece of software that interfaces with your Mustang amplifier to set up all the amps, stomp boxes, reverbs, effects, etc. and allows you to save all the changes to the amp's preset channels.

Don't get AmpliTube and FUSE confused with each other. I can use AmpliTube without my Mustang amps with a USB guitar cable directly into my computer. It sounds awesome. I bought all of the Orange amp models (except the Tiny Terror) off of the Custom Shop along with some more Marshall amps, the Soldano SLO-100, Peavey 5150, and a Mesa Dual-Rectifier channel. They all sound incredibly awesome.

FFXIHEALER:

How do you connect your guitar into your comp? You say you use a USB cable? What then do you connect directly to your guitar? Is it a 1/4 to usb or something?

Forgive me for being so green at this. I stilll know very little about computers/signals/inputs--those sorta things :)

This is what I use. It came with my PS3 version of Rocksmith and it works perfectly fine with my PC as a guitar input using ASIO4All (something you can Google).

IK Multimedia also sells a 1/4" Jack-to-USB adapter for use with their software, but you wouldn't know about it because you only have "Fender SE" installed. I went and downloaded AmpliTube 3.8 FREE from their website, then spent about $100 on their custom shop. The version that comes with your Mustang is basically a teaser of the full software.

I want to also suggest the Roland DUO-CAPTURE USB audio interface ($80 from MF) http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1155&ParentId=104, it's very low-latency and comes bundled with Cakewalk's SONAR LE.

I have a Cakewalk UA-4FX, and it works great with LIVE, SONAR & Reaper.

I only downloaded the AmpliTube 3.8 FREE for the bass amp sims, I use/tweak the Mustang's amp models.

Lots of great info, Guys.

Metalman - Not to confuse you but remember that you can use the amp as an input audio interface for AmpliTube Fender LE as well. Take a look at this article:

The problem with doing that is the Mustang amplifier's USB output signal is comming from the signal path AFTER the preamp and DSP effects, so no matter what you do, it will have some kind of amp modelling or speaker emulation filter before you run it into AmpliTube. It is for this reason that we always recommend bypassing the Mustang amp completely when trying to use AmpliTube on a PC. Why would I want to put an amp on top of another amp unless I was trying to daisy-chain two preamp sounds in series?

Being an audio guy myself I certainly hear you. I was just trying to offer a more immediate solution that didn't require purchasing more gear. Also, software modeling isn't for everyone. Lots of guys don't find AmpliTube useful at all. I'd hate for him to purchase an interface for it and realize it's not for him.

If you download my "Empty" preset, that should turn off the amp modeling, then you will truly have a transparent (or as transparent as the Mustang gets) USB interface.

PITA
