I bought a Mustang III amp yesterday. It sounds great but, I did notice the hissing sound - not the fizzing sound on some presets. Some threads have referred to the hissing sound. This is a similar effect that I had experienced with a Peavey tube amp which I eventually attributed to the single coil pickups in my Strat. Anyway, it was quite annoying and I could never get rid of it except by turning the volume up which made it somewhat less noticeable.

When this happened on the Mustang I wasn't too worried and it did not happen on every preset - just a few. What I found was that by adjusting the Master Volume, Volume and the volume on my guitar I could completely eliminate the hissing. The treaking was different for each preset but, I was able to get a nice hiss free sound each time. Granted the volume level may not be as loud as you want but, for bedroom warriors I think it should suffice.

I haven't experienced the fizz yet but, hopefully when it does show up, I can tweak it away as well.

For hissing you should use the noise gate, which works very well. Also experiment with different cab options, since some are more "trebley" than others. Some amp models have a presence control which can also be used to control hiss.

On my MIII the Princeton 65 model and its related cab have the most hiss.

The fizz cannot be tweaked away but with some amp and cab models it is less obvious than with others.

Cormorant is right, you should try the noise gate to get rid of the hiss,my mustang I and V sound pretty good with the noise gate on and the hiss is not really a problem with my mustang amps but my vox VT20+ has a lot of hiss that even the noise gate cannot get rid of,this seems to be a major problem with the vox VT+ amps.
