:) Hi;
I'm a Newbie to the Forums,BUT,Wanted to share a Situation some of you may have encountered and not known was the cause.
I purchased a Mustang III Amp from Guitar Center a few weeks ago,and,after using it,noticed a slight "Glitch" sometimes when turning it on or playing through it. Sounded like a faint "EKG" Moniter,almost like an electronic heartbeat. I tried changing cables,switching guitars,sometimes it was fine,others,The sound was there,All I kept thinking was the salesman at GC telling me to purchase their "Protection Plan" for repairs,..having NEVER having an issue,I Didn't Buy the plan,and,now started to think it was a mistake.
Last night,I turned on the amp,even before plugging my guitar in,the sound started,I switched presets,it was more prominent in some,BUT,my cell was in my pocket,I went to take it out,and as It passed in front of the amp,THE SOUND GREW LOUDER! I took the phone,held it to the amp,it was there,moved it away,it was GONE,...Held it up near the Guitar pickups,Again,Sound was Very Loud,Moved the phone away,it STOPPED!
HOPEFULLY,If anyone has experienced this problem,try taking the cell phone out of your pocket and put it on a table a few feet away. I was ready to pull my hair out,but,got lucky finding the problem myself.
HOPE THIS HELPED SOME OF YOU!
Bob

Cellphones will do that to just about anything that has an amplifier and speakers that doesn't have sufficient shielding. It doesn't do it on car radios but then, car radios are completely surrounded by a metal casing. My Harman Kardon Receiver doesn't seem to be affected but again, it too has a full metal chassis.

The Mustangs are pretty skimpy on shielding but doesn't seem to be affected by most things. Cellphones however, have a fairly strong radio signal so that they can reach the towers so they will interfere with the amps.

Every amp and PA that I've ever come across has amplified cell phone noises, especially GSM phones. When my band plays out it's all cellphones off or out of your pockets and placed somewhere else.

I've noticed that GSM phones cause more interference than CDMA phones as well.
