How about adding a place where we can add an impulse response of a speaker cab of our own... Redwirez, Ownhammer, something of that nature... It CAN'T take a lot of memory...
It would be a GREAT thing for recording via USB or headphone out!

Could be a wav. or even something small like a Sysxfile!

How about it Loren?

That is a very good idea!!!

It should be possible, because there already is something like an additional speaker correction for the headphone out.

Did you ever compare the sound coming from your FX-Send when a headphone connected to the headphone out and when it is not? You can try it when you connect the FX-Send to your hi-fi system. That difference is the speaker correction of the headphone out.

When you connect a headphone to the headphone out, the FX-Send signal is exactly the same as the headphone signal. When you don't connect a headphone, the FX-Send has way too much highs in it...so if you use the FX-Send as Line Out for live performance, you always need a speaker emulation...I use the palmer pdi-09. That works fine. Even for practising at home, I use the palmer and a microphone amp for the headphone, because it sounds more like what comes out of the speaker of the Mustang III. The Cab Simulation on the headphone out is very poor...still too much highs.

So I would suggest the following:

- Make the cab simulation for the USB and headphone out more variable...perhaps like giving a frequency response as values of dB over Frequency or something like this...I already have this response for my palmer pdi and so I could implement it :-)

- If it isn't possible to make a variable Cab Simulation for the headphone out, please make at least a better cab simulation...a sound like from the pdi-09 works fine for the mustang III.

- Giving an option for adding the cab simulation from the headphone out also to the FX Send, if you want to use it as Line Out. But I don't think that this is possible, because the FX Send seems to be between "Computer-Out" and Power-Amp-In. So adding another cab simulation to the FX-Send would affect also the sound of the internal speaker...that would be bad.

Regards,

Mustang-Driver from Germany

Thank you Loren!
That would be so awesome... I use the Redwirez mixer and it will allow me to mix not only multiple cab impulses down to one SYSX or .wav file, I can use multiple mics and mix the balance of each in... This would take the Mustangs to a whole NEW LEVEL while direct recording!

Thanks much,

Gary

No one else record and realize what a boon this would be for recording via USB or taking the send out to a PA for live playing? Speaker cab IR's will make or break a guitar amps sound!

Any News about the new Firmware? Will there be a better Speaker/Cab Sim for the Headphone Out and/or the Line-Out (FX-Send)?

This may be a stupid question, but is this why my M2 sounds much MUCH better out of the amp than when recording via USB? Or when using headphones?

If so, the suggested feature would be an AWESOME idea!

Hi madsen,

The output from USB and/or the headphone output should have a very good sound quality. What are you monitoring through (headphones, speakers, etc)? You might check a 'second' monitor reference source. Please let me know if I can assist.

It is not that it sounds bad or low quality in any way. It just seem to be missing something compared to the sound from the amp. Don't quite know how to describe it. Also, all youtube videos I have seen have mic'ed the amp and not used the USB for recoding the sound of the Mustangs. Don't know if it is old habit or they also hear a difference?
However, it could be that I can only really hear my crappy guitar playing when playing back on the computer...

PS All in all I am a very satisfied customer :D

Hi madsen,

Thanks for adding your sense of humor into the mix here. Its good to laugh sometimes. :) Perhaps what you are trying to describe is the difference between the straight tone of the build in speaker itself (i.e. when mic'd) and the headphone/USB output. you may want to compare for yourself if you have a mic available to see which method works for you. There is not a "right" way to capture your guitar tones. And please let me know if I can assist further.
