Hello

I having some issues with my Fender Mustang 1 amp, it seems to be very bassy. Ive been downloading some presets from the fuse pages (mainly bluesy settings) and there is way too much bass on all of them, particuarly when I play the low E and A strings. Strangly enough, when I plug in my headphones it sounds ok. Can anyone help? Ive tried turning the bass down and it doesnt seem to work that much. Why does the Mustang sound much better when played through my headphones? I dont want to use them all the time. My guitar is a Squire Classic Vibe Telecaster.

Thanks

Duncan

The Mustang1 is very bassy, that's true. Many people like it that way. But for me it worked well just to turn down the bass of the presets, depending on the guitar I play. For a guitar with single coil pickups (and my ears...) its fine to have the bass at about 5 in the Fender-Presets while a semi-accoustic with humbuckers need much less, maybe just 2.
If this doesnt work for you, try to asymetricaly increase the distance between pickups and strings. Give more room on the side of the lower strings and less for the higher ones.

Hey Guys,

Duncan - You mentioned that the bass knob doesn't seem to affect the signal too much. That's definitely a problem. Do you have the ability to play your amp alongside another Mustang I? Also, have you tried a preset restore by holding down EXIT while powering the amp on?

The bass knob on the Mustang is fine, I was refering to the downloadable presets on the Fender Fuse website and adjusting the bass in Fuse. Why do the presets sound better through my headphones than directly through the amp?

It's hard to tell exactly what the amp is supposed to sound like without comparing it to another. Is there any way you can get access to another MI to compare it to. Perhaps you can visit a dealer.
