Hiya guys.

I'm a new Stratocaster owner with a new Mustang I amp + foot-switch. I've been playing an acoustic for many years, but am just learning about electrics - so the Mustang amp was the way to go in my books.

Unfortunately, it's a steep learning curve for me to try and tweak and emulate certain sounds I want. Learning about what Chorus, Compression (etc.) pedals do and how to create what I want. For the most part, the Fender/Mustang community has me covered but I'm stumped for 1 particular tone/sound - the "Big Muff" pedal tone used by 90's bands like the Smashing Pumpkins.

Is there any particular spot/forum/thread on here I can put in a request for a preset that will give me that huge over-dubby, buzzy sound that the Pumpkins had - particularly on the Siamese Dream album?

Thanks in advance. I'm having so much fun with this stuff - and Fender products have really impressed the heck out of me! And, cheers to all of you more experienced members for creating such wonderful presets that allow me to feel like a rock-star!

Fender Fuse will help you get that sound in two ways: it will let you edit with your computer (making it easier to get the sound) and it will also look sounds up on the Internet for you. You can do searches and then download the sound into your Mustang 1.

I used to have a Big Muff years ago - I loved it. The trick to getting that great sound was turning the tone way down and the sustain way up. So far I haven't been able to get that sound out of the Mustang III, but since I usually play 'clean' nowadays I haven't really put much time into it.

If & when I do come up with somethimg similar, I'll let you know.

I would REALLY appreciate that, please let me know if/when you can emulate that. I've been trying and tweaking with FUSE, and I KNOW it's possible, but I lack the experience/insight into how to achieve it. ... and it's so easy just to download the "right" one from someone who's knows far more than me ;)

Big, Fuzzy, Buzzy, Over-Dubby wall of sound - almost sounds like they overdubbed 500 distorted guitar tracks. I used to LOVE that Pumpkins sound, lol - just can't seem to recreate it with "American 90's Punk" or "American 90's Chorus" etc...

Thanks for the reply - I'm sure as the amp sells more, and more ppl. create/emulate specifics, it'll turn up.
