Hey Guys,
My old deluxe had a standby switch that I would use during breaks. My new Mustang 111
is on/off. Not being real experienced with transistor amps, I'm wondering which is better for the amp.

Do you turn your amp off and back on 15 min. later or leave on?
Do these amps get hot like the old tube amps?
I don't want to wear out the switch or the amp.

Thanks

Nah. The only thing I do, just in case some schmoe decides he's gonna play my rig without asking, is to turn on the Tuner as it mutes the output of the amp. It has happened to me once or twice. Most of the doofuses that would actually do something like that don't two brain cells to rub together so they can't figure why there's no sound.

O.

I keep mine hooked up to the computer most of the time. And when I'm done with it, I usually just turn the master volume down and walk away. It's been left on for days at a time like that. And I've wondered if I'm I doing it any harm, but it doesn't seem to.

When I'm gigging and leave the stage on breaks I always leave all of my amps on, but generally turn the volumes down, just in case.

Only real tube-amps have a standby-switch for not cooling down the tubes so that you can start to play imidiatly. For a solid state it does't make any sense.
But of course its a good idea ruling down the volume or switching of the amp if you leave it alone.

Yeah, I leave mine on and connected to the computer for extended periods (computer is pretty much always on; sometimes I feel guilty about wasting electricity and turn off the Mustang). I have not wondered about harming it--it's basically another computer for the most part (no stress on speakers if no sound).

For professional gigging, get a make/break cable and unplug the guitar when taking a break.

Well, it did me when it happened. The guy got indignant about it too, as if he had every right to muck with my guitar.
