I love mine. However, I'm concerned about the reliability. It seems a high percentage of other users are having issues with theirs.

I'm often asked by others for guitar equipment advice. Based on my own experiences I would wholeheartedly recommend the Mustang III. It's everything, and more, I've always wanted in an amp. After purchasing it, I've read far too many issues others are having.

I got a really great deal at Guitar Center. I bought the amp along with a 60's Tribute Les Paul with P-90's. This is a great combo! The price of the amp ended up being $200. The salesman, who I've known for quite some time and actually trust, highly recommended I get the extended warranty for the amp since it's basically a computer. He said I really didn't need it for the guitar. After doing some research on the amp, after the fact, I'm really glad I got the extra protection. I'm wondering if Guitar Center will cover any Fizz issues, when Fender won't. Hmmmm....???

Anyways, love the amp. In fact, I'd easily pay $300 just for the Bassman sounds. Loving the 57 Deluxe sounds also! I'd really like to recommend one to my friends and co-workers, who are often asking me for musical equipment advice (usually it's for their kids now, ha!). I'd feel so bad if they purchased one based on what I told them and it went bad.

If they could only afford a solid State amp yes...

Absolutely not. In ten years, the Mustang series will be just a pathetic memory we'll all shake our heads at, saying "why did we put up with Fender not fixing that fizz?"

I'll assume that the person asking for a recommendation has already narrowed the choice down to a modeling amp or is at least considering a modeling amp.

In that case, I would Absolutely, Unequivocally, Wholeheartedly recommend a Mustang.

The competition has its fair share of issues too. For me, when I weigh the pros and cons, the Mustang still comes out on top.

Yep!!!
Does everything I was wanting, plus way MORE at about 1/3 of what I expected to pay.
I'm even thinking of getting another just for a backup.

Read up on the fizz and decide whether it would make difference to you. It's a great amp at a great price if not; if clean jazz / acoustic sounds are important, then not so much. Be sure to listen to the amp you buy and be sure you understand the local return policy.

I love my Mustang Amp. Having said that, when the next version or upgrade of the present Mustang comes along, I also enjoy that I won't lose a bundle selling this one for the new one.

No fizz on mine (knock on wood). To me they represent terrific value. And buying in Thailand, I had to pay $160 for a Mustang I. Still consider it a bargain.

i don't have to. this weekend, i got together with my guitar partner (i play harp) who moved away last year. i brought my vox for me, and my mustang ii for him, so i could hear guitar through it. by the end of the afternoon, he had decided to buy one.

It depends on what you expect from an amp, but I would recommend Mustang. Absolutely. At least old M1 like mine :). I never tried other Mustang models but this little thing is great value for the money. I play clean most of the time (ok, all the time) and I had 'fizz' issue but it was fixed with some firmware update long time ago :)

I also have a Vox modeling amp and I love it, too. I can't say which one is better, they are both great...just different. but Mustang's big advantage is FUSE. and USB port :)
