What is the best way to bypass the amp efects on my Mustang V, I use a Line 6 pod XT Live and have many sounds stored on it, when I use the bypass plugs on the back of the amp I am still getting the effects from the Mustang.

Does anyone have a solution for this?
Any help would be appreciated

Bypass plugs? Do you mean the effects loop Returns?
If you are in fact using the effects return jacks and still hearing the Mustang's effects, just turn the effects knobs counter clock-wise on the front panel.

Frankly, I don't really get why anyone would plug a modeler into another modeler... just me.

The main reason I need to bypass is because I have a Line 6 Variax modelling guitar and it is paired up with the Line 6 XT Pod live

Then I would say that none of the Mustangs would be the ideal amp for you. In fact, it is completely wrong for what you need because it is a modeler in its own right. Why buy a modeling amp if you don't intend to use its modeling capabilities?
I would look into a Tech21 Power Engine as it's designed to do exactly what you're trying to do.

Keep in mind though - your Line6 Variax guitar WILL work perfectly well into your Mustang V without the Pod XT. The two Line6 products are not dependant on each other to operate - they are standalone devices they can be linked if needed!!

As a Variax owner, I have to partially disagree with that. Line6 created an interface for the Variax called the Variax Digital Interface or VDI. This allows VDI equipped devices such as the OP's XTLive to control which Variax guitar model and pickup position is used with a particular preset. It's actually freaky cool! Too bad I hate the way the Pods respond to picking attack 'cause I'd still have one if it responded to my playing better. The Pods (to me) are great for modern metal sounds but I just can't stand their interpretation of what an old Fender amp is supposed to FEEL like when you dig in... but I digress...

Anyway, my point is that you would lose the cool capabilities of the pairing of the Pod and the Variax. Sure you could just use the Variax with the Mustang and it should sound really good but that's not what he's asking about.

As much as I like my Mustang V, I would like it to have the capability to turn of the effects shoulld you choose to use a differant modelling pedal such as the Pod

Guitar - Pod input - Pod output - FX Loop Return

You are now using the amp only! The Pod is your effect pedal.

Actually, that's exactly how I run my Vox ToneLab through my Mustang III also & it works great.

Guitar > ToneLab input > ToneLab output > FX Loop Return. Get Amp Only w/12" speaker with only the Master Volume to adjust. Sounds pretty dang good actually & no fizz!

That configuration certainly should work. Perhaps the Master volume on the amp was turned down.

Is that what they call an "i-d-10-t" error? Funny how Fender solved the problem the problem in a flash & all the other armchair experts & "would-be's-if-could-be's" on here were just fumbling around in the dark??
