I spent about 2 hours playing with the SCX2 and the Mustang III side by side - the clean sounded amazing on the SCX2 BUT everything sounded horrible! The low end notes caused major buzzing sound. 3 sales guys came over to see if it was the guitar, cable, stickers, loose knob, loose this and that, etc. all of them agreed how bad the amp sounded when it was not on clean and on Channel 2 (digital channel)...

I also noticed that the clean channel had great projection but the digital channels projection was horrible! I had to crank it up to almost 10 and then of course it was overloading the speaker.... I suspect all the issues are on the digital channel and the poor speaker they are using...

I was NOT impressed at all for the Money... The Mustang was 80 - 90% of the quality on clean and on everything else the Mustang hands down beat it... That 8 inch speaker is just tooo small and very poor quality in my opinion...

I ended up getting the Mustang III since I have a no questions asked 30 day return policy also when they get the SC X2HD (head and cabinet) in I will try that and swap it if I like that one better...

I am/was very afraid about the Fizz/Fuzz for the Mustang III and at this point couldn't hear it at the store and the one I brought home also has not exhibited it - ended up getting the 2 year no questions asked replacement guarantee (30 bucks more).. worth piece of mind...

Figured I would share my experience...for those on the fence... I do agree though you need to try them both out and make your own decision..

Thanks. I think the SCX2 is 10". What's the manufacture date of your M3?

Wow... Your right... Shocking how poor the bass response was....

The mustang has a date of 11/2010

Im shocked to see how old it is... So far I played a few hours tonight and no issues... I updated the firmware also and noticed (maybe a placebo) that the sound improved! --- could just be the speaker is breaking in also...

So far I am VERY happy with the purchase... the SCX2 I would have surely been very unhappy with the lack of presence... (and that buzzing would have drove me crazy-I do believe its a defective unit-- BUT then why was channel 1 perfect??)
