So I just bought an alesis IO2 Express audio interface. In order to record the tones from the Mustang, I have two options:

1: Mustang Headphones out -> Alesis 1\4 inch Jack in.
2: Mustang FX Send -> Alesis 1\4 inch Jack in.

Is one way clearly better than the other?
Does the signal coming from the FX Send include all 'rack effects' in the patch? Is the reverb included in this signal?

The volume sent out of the FX send it much stronger than out of the headphone jack. The headphone jack I can see breaking with contnuous usage, so I'm hoping that the FX send will work just as well if not better.

Finally, on my alesis, either way I will be plugging into the same 1\4 inch jack. There is a switch that has two options. The first option is Mic\Line, the other is guitar. So if I am doing option 1 above, I beleive this switch should be set to Mic\Line. If I am doing option 2 it should be set to guitar. Is this correct?

Thanks!

FWIW, I did try recording via USB direct from the Amp to my computer, and was having issues. With the Alesis, my sound card will be eliminated so this should be a better option...

You could do either, but we here on the forum have heard from others who have tried both ways using the same recording input. Someone said that recording from the FX Send jack sounded like $@! and he preferred the headphones (Speaker Emulated Line Out) output better. The only way you'll know for sure what works best for you and your setup is to try and record BOTH ways and then listen to how the recordings sound. Then you can decide which one works better for you.
