ESL (English as Second Language) friend, welcome to the forum.

Mustang 4 + 5 = STEREO (two channel)

Mustang 3 + 2 + 1 = MONO (one channel)

Not much difference between the 3 and 4 other than that.

The Mustang 1 and 2 do not have the FIZZ problem. They are great little practice amps, but you cannot gig with them easily. You can with the 3 or the 4. The 5 was made for gigging.

Go to a store that has one on display and ask to try it out first. That would make your decision easier.

Good luck!

I think its fair to say there is a good chance that a III IV or V will fizz to some degree. But the Mustang amps - just like any other modeling amps - are going to have certain aspects, issues, qualities, or whatever you want to call it, that not everyone is going to be happy with. So you have to examine the good and the bad and decide what you are willing to live with.

I think the III's are the ones that people complain about the most, and think there's only only a very small percentage of them that actually find the amp unusable.

My opinion: The Mustang amps are among the best modeling amps that I have heard. But if your PRIMARY use for the amp is to play pristine clean tones, the fizz could become an issue and you may want to consider other options. But if want a wide variety of excellent sounding tones and effects in one convienent box at a very reasonable price, you can't go wrong with the Mustangs.

I'd have to agree that the % of users who have the fizz are most likely a VERY small group of users. There are hundreds of other buyers who either never come on this forum at all or don't have any problems with their amps and have no reason to complain.

If you want the Mustang IV, I say go for it. The Mustang is an awesome modelling amp with loads of volume and very authentic amp sounds.
