Anyone install their Mustang III in a cabinet made with solid wood? From where did you source it, or do you have plans? I am afraid to gig with the amp because the stock cabinet is not very robust.

For gigging, I'd be a lot more worried about the cheap connectors direct-connected to the circuit boards. The amp isn't going to quit working in the middle of a gig because of the cabinet, unless you work rougher venues than I ever did. But it might if you trip over a cable and pull the connector right off the logic board. I think if I were going to gig with it, I'd look for something like GC's extended warranty that covers stuff like that.

I'm happy to trade a little cabinet integrity for weight. That's gold for casual giggers. For me the mustang was fine in that respect (just don't ask me about fizz).

The only time an amp should really be under any threat cabinet-wise is when loading in/out of a gig, when some care is surely needed with ANY gear.

Once in the gigging position, whether on a stand or otherwise, if people are smacking the amp about then you've got a bigger problem than just the cabinet !

Like Bruce, I think the bigger problem may be with some of the cheap connectors. For example, the mini USB socket is known to vanish inside the amp if you're not careful.
