Hey,

I've only had my Mustang 1 amp for about 5 months or so, and it had been working perfectly up until a few weeks ago. I had been moving furniture, lost my balance and fell, and my amp helped by catching me...but my hand mashed several of the knobs and buttons on the right side of the panel near the power switch. No damage was actually done to the amp. I don't know what I did, but ever since then, my amp has not been putting out any sound no matter which guitar I plug in or how many settings I try to adjust. And when I unplug the cable from my guitar while the amp is still on, I get this awful loud, screeching sound until I either plug it back into the guitar or turn the amp off. Also, the tuner on the amp seems to work fine, but none of the lights light up when I pick the strings, which makes me wonder if I did something so that the amp isn't receiving any signals/sound to put out.

If anyone has any idea what the heck I did to screw my amp up, please help. Knowing me and my novice-ness, it is probably something simple. At least I hope.

Sorry to hear that, man. I think that there's a chance you may have cracked the circuit board if you fell on the controls with all your weight. Like most devices today, those knobs and buttons are mounted right on the the circuit board. While it's cheaper to manufacture things that way, it also makes them more susceptible to impact damage.
In the grand scheme of things, it's a $99.00 amp.

O.

I think you need to replace that amp with a new one.

Considering what it cost, you really can't think it's that durable. You killed it.

If you shop around, you can get one used for 50, 60 bucks!

Be thankful you didn't break your wrist or fingers and didn't throw out your rotator cuff with that type of fall!

Thanks for the tip about the circuit board. Yeah, and not all of my weight was put onto the amp, and cosmetically it looks as good as it did out of the box. Not that that means anything, it just filled me full of wishful thinking. I may just break down and buy a new one or have someone at least look at. After coupons and all, I only paid 50 bucks for it brand new, so that helps take the sting out of the wound of possibly losing it.

My guess is that some connection came loose, maybe around the input jack...you might have put enough pressure on the PCB to break the connection between the jack and the PCB.

If I were you, I'd be tempted to open it up and see if you can see anything obvious. It can be a trick to get the back off...it's in there pretty tight and mine seemed to have a few spots of glue. But with a putty knife I was eventually able to pry it open (though did cut some of the tolex, though not where it can be seen when the back is on). And I can't remember how easy it is to see those connections...might need to loosen some other stuff, too. But if something just came loose that you can easily solder back, it's better than buying a new one!

Obviously, if the PCB is cracked or broken, it might not be easily repaired, but then you'd know for sure!

And if you really did break it, then the warranty is gone anyway, so really, you've got nothing to lose by opening it up and looking around!

You definitely broke something on the amp. It doesn't sound like that's covered under warranty either.
