Hi Guys,

I very much like the look of the Mustang 3...however i know ist 100w so i guess it will be way too loud for home use?? The reason im looking at this and not the Mustang 1 & 2 is because i would like an effects loop and the Mustang 3 has this. Is the amp good at lower volumes??

Any advice would be great

Pete

The amp will be fairly stable all the way through the lower volumes. It does have a Master Volume control. I have the M5 with the 4x12 cab and I can play it quietly too. I also have a set of Sony headphones for when it's late at night.

The III can be played at very low volumes and still sound realy good. This was very important to me too when I decided to purchase mine.

I have a MI and an MIII... the M1 is great. The M3 is great! The M3 gives me issues w/ fizz though on distorted channels at higher levels. It is pretty great though that I can play it really low and not bother my room mates... or loud, and bother them!

Typically when I hear the crinkly sounds with higher gain, it seems to be a consequence of noise in my chain.

IOW, turning off the gate, there's a constant hum--but with the gate on, the hum only comes through when you play/hold a note, and because it is fairly constant volume, it becomes more noticeable as the plucked note decays.

YMMV.

PITA

Nah...the amp will sound fine at lower volumes...what I discovered helps is turning the amp volume (NOT the master volume) up to 10 and it works well at bedroom volumes.

The III amp does get loud pretty quickly - after all, it is 100 (ss) watts ! Personally I think the speaker needs to be driven a bit harder for better tone, which for me doesn't really happen at only 1 on the master volume.

By the time you are at 3, the neighbours may be taking an interest !

If you just want a bedroom practice amp and you are not going to play out at live gig's then i would get the mustang I,the M3 is overkill in my opinion for this purpose,i use my MI in my bedroom as a practice amp and it sounds better then my MV at lower volumes.
