My Mustang 2 is about three weeks old. Only problem I have is when using the aux input for an MP3 player. As soon as I plug the cable into the aux input I get quite a noticeable hum, at pretty low volume. The hum is not there when playing the amp normally. Any ideas? Is the input defective or could it be something else? Thank you.

Is the mp3 player running on a battery or is it plugged in to AC adapter?
If you're using an AC adapter you may have a ground loop problem. Try using a different outlet for it and try other sources like a CD player and see if you still get a hum.

Hmmm... Try a different cable maybe or gently jiggle the cable at the input jack or maybe pull it out slightly to see if the problem goes away?

Hey Harmonious,

Is the cable that you're using a stereo cable?

Hi there....I THINK it's stereo. Also use it for connecting iPod to car stereo, single 3.5mm gold jack at each end....

You may want to try another cable. The problem could be with the aux input but another cable should be pretty quick to try. Have you connected anything else other than the mp3 player?

Those are stereo cables. I take it that you don't get a hum when you use that cable in the car. I think it's highly likely that the problem is the Aux In jack on your MII but try a different cable anyway.

I also have the same problem and I'm using a stereo cable and I'm on battery.
For me, the auxiliary jack is unusable....

Hey Guys,

We're unable to reproduce any noticeable hum here with an iPhone and another mp3 player connected to our Mustang I and II. We're even using a cheap Radio Shack cable.

Is the volume turned all the way up on your mp3 player? Where does the Master level on the amp have to be to get a decent volume?

Does the MP3 player use hard drive or flash? Even if its small it could have a micro drive in there... Try a microphone - if you dont have one take a cheap stereo head phone and see if it causes hum when you plug it in.. if not its your device.
