Besides rewiring the V 412 cabinet to a mono set-up, is there any other way to get a mono signal out of the V head/V 412 cab instead of stereo?

Hey kabinski,

The right speaker output functions as mono if the left isn't connected. Other than that, the V will always be a stereo head.

Thanks for the reply. I actually just solved my dilema. I've tried just connecting the right speaker output but it never sounded right. Instead of a true sounding mono tone, there was a slight decrease in volume and the tone was still fairly "colored"... a bit distorted and fuzzy sounding. Maybe I'm wrong, but due to the way the V cabinet is wired, I'm not sure it's possible to get a good sounding mono tone out of it. It may technically be mono when connecting just one of the outputs, but I don't believe the sound from the speakers is the same as you get from a mono-wired cabinet. At least that's what I've experienced...

To backtrack a bit, I was previously using a Fender DT412 (mono) cabinet w/ Celestion G12T's. I was very happy with the tone, but figured I'd give the Mustang V cabinet a shot (afterall, it matches the head). I kinda liked the stereo sound at first, but the novelty of it lost it's appeal after a few days. It sounded "too" digital to me. I then thought maybe swapping out the G12T's for the cheaper Rocket 50's would make things better. It helped a little, but not enough. So, just this evening I decided to swap the wiring from the two cabinets, as well. Now I'm back to being satisfied with the G12T's and the mono wiring in the new Mustang V cab. I guess the only real reason I did it this way was to have a matching head and cabinet. Now I'll put the stereo wiring with the Rocket 50's in the DT412 cabinet and try to sell it.

I gotta say, to my ear, the mono set-up I have sounds 1,000 times better than the stereo set-up did.
