I recently purchased a Mustang I amp and love it. However, I recently discovered that the head phone jack seems to not be working correctly. When i plug in my headphones I can get sound in the phones, but the sound is awful and it does not turn off the speaker in the amp. I bought the amp at a best buy (big mistake!) and can not find my receipt and they will not exchange the amp without it. Has anybody had this problem or know how I might fix it?

Did you happen to pay for the amp with a credit or debit card.If so you should be able to provide proof of purchase and Fender will or should cover it under warranty.Actually if you can prove to best buy you bought it from them they should cover it.If you payed cash than that will obviously pose a problem, otherwise there will be a record of the transaction with your bank.I am not sure how to fix that jack problem.Your best bet is to find that receipt.Until than ....your outta luck.Best of luck

I thought best buy kept records of all of purchases by name. If not, doesn't sound like you have many options. If you end up having to get it serviced instead of exchanged, most service centers should be fine without a receipt considering it has a 5 year warranty and they were only released a year and a half ago.

I am having a kind of similar problem with my out-of-the-box Mustang II, if I plug in a headphone set, the speaker may (or may not) go mute while sound will be directed to the headphones (in my case the sound quality is OK), but that lasts for about 10 seconds and then sound starts coming out from the speaker even while the headphones are still plugged in. Based on the fact that the above replies focused more on Best Buy return policy than on a solution to the problem, I guess the conclusion is that the Amp is defective and has to be repaired, there is no user-implemented solution, is that correct?
