Hi,

I just received a brand new Mustang III I bought online and I am dissapointed to say the least.

There is a very noticable noise/hiss on every single preset with distortion and on some clean ones as well.

I tried creating my own presets and the noise is still there. Tried two different guitars with humbuckers and even different cables. I updated the firmware...nothing...

Does anybody know anything about this?

I had a similar issue with my Mustang V after I got it home. I even took it back to the store. We tried it out at the store and it it worked fine. Got it back home and same thing. loud noise and hiss on all presets. It was worse on presets with any type of gain. What I found out was the outlet I was plugging the amp into was not properly gounded. It was a three prong outlet, but when checked with a tester it was not grounded. Fixed the issue and the amp is perfectly quiet on clean settings, with only a little hiss with gain. Dont know if it will help but maybe worth a check.

I just tried it on a few different, properly grounded installations, and guess what? That ugly hiss with noise is still there. I tried it on all plugs in my house,in my best friend's house and in an electrician's workshop with a UPS and a power conditioner...It's beyond words!

I have contacted Thomann and will be returning the amp as soon as possible. That was the first and last time I bought a Fender...I am so pissed off right now...

Hey Fenderamos,

I"m sorry you're first experience with Fender amps turned out to be not so positive. Perhaps that hiss can be explained somehow. You mentioned you notice the hiss on almost every preset. Are you confident that you have the latest version of firmware on the amp? Do you notice the hiss on the headphone or USB out as well as the speaker?

Have you set your noisegate in fuse for each patch, I did find that my III likes to be gated.

I don't know what your level of experience is but the term "session" leads me to believe that you are a studio guy. I can tell you that pound for pound you will be hard pressed to find a more versatile rig to carry to a job.

I just bought a Mustang III yesterday. I do notice some feedback when im standing next to the amp. I figured this out because i hooked up my laptop via USB to the amp and started playing around with FUSE (and also updated firmware). I noticed right away that i was getting some feed back. I then turned the volume down on my guitar and it went away. I have EMG active pickups... but once i walked about 8 ft away from the amp the feedback (hiss, static) would totally disappear. Its not an issue for me, as i like to sit 8-10ft from my amp when i play anyway.

Love the amp by the way... FUSE is awesome!

Return it get one that isn't broke.

Loren, stop playing dumb,.he said he updated to the new firmware.

You know very well, Loren, that the III's are problematic.

I am a little surprised we have not seen a better response from Fender in addressing the ongoing issues with Fizz!

Kinda sad if you ask me... I was starting to be a fender guy... now I've had serious second thoughts

Wild speculation...the amps work, but have been sabotaged due to them working so well, they've crashed the tube amp market.
