I am new to modeling amps and just purchased as MIII, which I love but I am trying to figure out how I could gig with it. The two switch pedal doesn't seem to do it for me or maybe I am not using it correctly. Can anybody help??!!

Judging from the amount of people on here that are upset with the M3-M5 fizz issue, I'd have to say that yes, a number of people gig with their amps.

The headphones out jack is a speaker-emulated line-out as well, so you can either hook that up to a PA system, or you can mic it. Or you could do neither, as 100 watts should get you heard in a small gig.

I gig with my Cannabis Rex loaded MII and a mic all the time. The Rex is so efficient that I was actually asked to turn down a bit... by the drummer!

Have you found an easy way to switch from clean to overdrive to other effects?

I sit my M III amp on a wooden stand that keeps it square on to me (rather than tilted back) and I can easily see the LCD screen. I set up my 5 or 6 presets before the gig in consecutive slots and for between song changes I just turn the dial as needed. With the presets grouped togther it takes no more than a few seconds to do.

For changing tones during a song, the basic footswitch allows reasonably rapid switching between two tones, which seems fine to me for most songs - with the kind of rock/pop stuff we play, I really don't need to be switching between multiple tones or changing effects during a song.

Volume wise, in a 6 piece rock band with another, loud guitarist I am mostly playing at about 5 on the master volume and keeping up comfortably.

That is very helpful, thanks. I didn't even think about grouping them together like that. I am very pleased with how loud this amp is.

I use my M3 to gig with. I set it basically the same as depepat. I have my 5 basic sounds at 00-04
and have my 2 button footswitch set to stomp/delay. Some of my presets have the compressor for boost and some have the overdrive for boost, then different delay settings for each preset. also have 1 with a phaser on for the Waylon tunes. We do 70's to now country with a little blues and southern rock
I run a Boss CS3 comp sitting on top of the amp (its on all the time) , easy set up and great tone every night :D now just gotta do something about my chops
Cheers
Tim

All I do is gig so that is why I went with a light rig like the III. In my opinion this amp is made for people that need multiple sounds to do an entire night of covers. Order the 4 button footswitch and you will be amazed at how easily this amp replaces your pedal board as well.

The only issue that I am having is a "solo" boost but I am working through that now, in this band we have another capable guitarist that loves to be a rock star so I only have to do a handful of leads throughout the night. I am getting lazy in my old age...

I am in a 5 piece classic rock band, and we cover everything from Van Morrison to Wheezer. I have played about 6 gigs with my MIII, smaller corporate parties, clubs, to larger outdoor venues/festivals, etc. Mic'd into the PA has worked wonders. In every case, I have found the MIII to meet my tonal needs, and makes the boutique tube amp used by our other guitar player seem like a one-trick poney! Granted, you can definitely hear the tonal differences between a tube amp and the Mustang, but it's close.

I do find the 2-button foot-switch a bit limiting, so I have ordered the 4-switch model. It took some time for me to dial in the tones I liked, and I almost gave up on the Mustang. But, I'm liking it now!

For "solo boost" I put the compressor AFTER the amp (you can only do this in Fuse). This works great for me although it uses up the stomp section.

@joebeets,
great idea for compressor after the amp for boost, do you put it last after your delay?

cheers,
Tim

That is what I did originally but it is a little harsh because it doesn't add any gain. I have softened it up a bit but I think that I am going to just do a sequential preset with slightly more gain at a little higher volume.

I gig with my MIII and MIV. I have the 4 button foot switch and the 2 button foot switch. I have the QA set up as follows:

QA1: 00-09 - lead guitar
QA2: 10-19 - clean guitar
QA3: 20-29 - dirty, but not overly so

30 presets is more than enough for me.

I use my 2 button switch set to up/down so I can maneuver within each bank.

My favorite lead guitar preset is 00, 01 is the same but dry, and 02 again the same with only reverb.

I also use a low-z volume pedal in the FX loop. It is hard to get the various settings the same in volume, and this is very helpful to overcome the various differences. Also, I like to do swells with overdrive and this works great.

We mic all guitar amps, even though either amp can keep up with the stage volume of the others in the band.

I put it before the delay but the delay is post amp as well. I don't use much compression either, it's mostly for boost. You do have to play with settings a bit though...
