I know I have to go to Guitar Center and play the different amps and cabs to see what I am going to like, but its going to be a few days before I have the money, so rather then looking around on you tube, I thought Id check this place out.

I spent 1650 on a mesa boogie TA15 and 2 x 12 rec cab because it was Made in the USA
and I ended up never using it. I had it all covered up and to take all the covers off and then wait for the tubes to warm up, was just too much of a hassle, as I had a pawn shop
50 dollar Marshall MG30FX right there, ready to go in a flash. I just did not care for the sound of the MB for some reason. I have a American Standard and a 2006 pearl anniversary mex that I changed the tex mex pups for Seymor Dunkins, to get a different sound, as I would always just play the American one as the neck felt so nice.
I sold the cab, and bought a new GPU for my computer, and now I have the amp sold
for 600 bucks on ebay ( craigslist never gave me a single person interested ) in two hours.
With the 600 bucks, I can get the Mark IV and buy some strings and a amp stand and be happy with the g12-P80 speakers, or I can get the Mark V and the 4 x 12, but that has rocket 50's that Ive just heard were not as nice. I really dont want to have that big of a setup, so a 2 x 12 would be nicer. BlackStar has one for 299, but I dont know what kind of speakers it has yet. It would be great to just get a empty cab and put my own choice of speakers in it, but I dont think 300 will get me far. Ive read about the dreaded "fizz" so I will be sure to test things out and made sure I dont have that problem. I would appreciate any advice from you all on what you think a good choice would be, as I do like the idea of going with the V head and getting a separate cab.

Thanks !!! ( oh, I like mostly oldies from the 50's and 60's, so im not playing heavy metal, but mostly arpeggios of chords and strumming. )

If you go with the Mustang V head, you need to be very sure about one thing: That head was ALWAYS meant to put out stereo sound, so you will NEED to have 2 speaker lines running to the speaker cabs. These lines push up to 75 watts at an impedance of 8 ohms each.

Keep in mind that the Celestion Rocket 50 speakers in the V412 cabinet have a very balanced, even frequency response necessary for the Mustang series because of the modelling nature of the amp. It has to be able to replicate all 13 speaker cab simulators on top of the 12 amp models.

If you go with a 2x12", that's perfectly fine, but make sure each speaker is wired up separately to its own jack and that each speaker can handle the 75 watt max load and you should be good. I know that Celestion does makes 100-watt speakers. Just make sure you match the impedance of 8 ohms.

After going to GC and listening to both the IV and V, I decided on the IV for the sound
and the fact that the V just took up too much space.

Now I am very curious about the back of the IV where it has two out jacks
Im thinking I can put one into my Marshall MG30FX and another one into
my Crate CA30D and get 4 speakers going if I so wish ?????

They only had the demo one available at the store, and I did not want
that one, as who knows what kid did what to it fooling around, and I cant
see paying for a new amp and having it be really used.

New one will be shipped tomorrow, so I hope its a good one, at least I have
30 days to bring it back if it suffers from the stuff Ive read about on here.

Thanks so much for all of your help !!!!

DON'T.

The Mustang IV is functionally the same as the Mustang V. It's a STEREO amp. It has two 75-watt 8-ohm external cab outputs because there's a left signal and a right signal.

It also has a Stereo FX loop. That's two jacks (left and right) for SEND and two more jacks for RETURN.

And there's a jack for the 2-button footswitch and a jack for the 4-button footswitch.

Be very careful what you plug in where when you get this amp.

So the out stereo jack has a lot of power to run a speaker in a plain ole cab, where in order to hook it up to my other amps, I would need a "Passive" type of signal that does not carry so much juice??? Thank you for the warning...I appreciate it...!!1

If you used a Y-adapter to combine the Stereo FX Loop "Send" out from your Mustang Amp, then yes, you could connect it to another amp. But don't ever connect another amp to the Speaker Out jacks because of the high amps they carry. You can fry equipment like that, including your other amps' input transformer and pre-amp path, not to mention shorting or blowing your Mustang's OT, because you're hooking up the speaker's 8-ohm load jack to a 1-million-ohm input jack on another amp. Yeah, that wouldn't be too healthy for ANY of your equipment, as a matter of fact.

The amp is on the truck and should be here via UPS really soon...cant wait !!!

So they delivered the amp an hour and a half ago.......I already called GC as mine was made on 12-28-2010 and the "fizz" problem is very noticeable. The manager of GC will call me as soon as the new amps come in. I told him I wanted one after Feb 2011 and that others had mentioned that Fender is not saying anything and just trying to get rid of old stock......For an amp that is so HOT and NEW, that the storage facility still has ones this old is really surprising to me. I really like the amp a lot, and want a newer manufactured one so I will be happy, or I have 30 days to just return it for a full refund.

I upgraded the firmware using a mac computer and then plugged into a different outlet, and now all of the fizz is gone. I also turned off the noise gate and lowered the gain on some of the presets that had the fizz..........so I have a keeper and I am very happy !
