Just curious, how did you arrive at the clean tone for the MIII?

Did you create a clean preset or did you use one of the pre-defined presets or did you simply use the knobs on the amp to turn off all the effects? I would try all three of the above methods to make sure there is no variation in the fizz that you are seeing.

Not doubting your results, just curious myself. My MIII does not fizz so I have no way to check myself....

I didn't make the recording of the fizzy MIII. It was made by another forum member a long time ago. I recorded the clean Mustang I, made the video, and spent some time analyzing it. My understanding was that it was made without using effects. I'm not sure what that meant to the guy with the fizzy amp but to me if you rotated both effects knobs all the way counter-clockwise I would consider them off. I had a second recording from a different fizz owner that had a similar but slightly different sound - both were bad sounding by any reasonable standard.

The sound clips and later my video were posted here in the Fender forum and the folks at Fender had/have every opportunity to ask questions and/or question the validity of the various recordings. It seemed to me that the guy who made the recording was only trying to get to the bottom of why his new amp didn't work right. I think it would have been pretty easy for Fender to get their hands on the actualy amplifiers that made the fizzy recordings if they didn't have their own fizzer. I would think they would want to do that - but they didn't. I don't recall Fender folks trying to help him adjust his setting so he could get a clean sound that didn't fizz - which was his goal.

Since all this went on, threads have been locked, some people have moved on, and it's a little harder to continue the discussion. Of course, the recordings remain. But like I said in my post, because I didn't record it myself.

If the video is not accurate I'd like to hear why it isn't so I can pull it down if it's misleading.

It's a great demonstration of what the fizz sounds like.

Yeah, just out of curiousity I'd like to see a more "controlled" experiment. Using the same preset (maybe a couple different presets) and recording both with a mic (no usb). Not that it would make a difference to what is already known, just curious.
