I wanted to make a list of problems in mustang 1 amp. Please mention which mustang you use and tell the reason why you dislike it. Please refrain from giving "reasons" like 'it sucks', 'not cool' etc.

PLEASE STOP NOW! There are not any known serious issues or other problems with the mustang I and II now(all previous problems with these amps were solved with a firmware update),all the owners of the mustang III and all the other members in this forum went through enough already about the fizz problem and Rockcat put himself out on a limb here for all the owners with the fizz problem by contacting fender about the fizz. There is nothing to dislike about the mustang I and II for the money that these amps cost,i have the mustang I and i like it and have no problems with it but i do have to worry about my mustang V because it may develop the dreaded fizz problem,i am not going to complain about it now and you should do the same with the mustang I and II,if your amp is working fine just be happy you got a great amp at a very good price. If you dislike your mustang just buy another amp that you like.

How is it that " Rockcat put himself out on a limb" by contacting Fender?
What would Fender do - show up at his house with thugs?

I think the only I don't care for is no MID knob.

I never use the EQ knobs myself. I just wish that instead of 8 slots per bank, there were all 12 amps, so I wouldn't have to keep going into FUSE on my netbook to use the other 4 amp models if I want. Yes, I can save over another one, but there's something in my mind that says if a slot is labeled '57 Deluxe, then that's the amp model you should get when you switch to it. LOL Maybe it's my OCD kicking in.

Otherwise, awesome amp.

Lack of on-amp screen to allow deeper editing of presets without computer/Fuse hook up - one of the main reasons I went from a II to a III.

But at the price, the I and II are hard to go past.

I'm mostly satisfied by my mustang 1. It's my first amp so I cannot really compare but the only drawbacks I can find are
- a hum which is anyway and as far as I know present on *all* amps
- the need to use a PC for changing the presets which is a minor annoyance in my case.

The price is really good, and the sound quality, well it sounds good to my ears but I don't have prior experience.

I would recommend any people interested by a small amp to have at least a look at it.

To me, the biggest drawback of the MI and II is the lack of an external speaker jack. That's the number one best way to tap the amps full tone potential! I added one to mine for a couple bucks and about 20 minutes worth of my time. The jack would have cost Fender pennies...they could have easily done that with amost no impact on it's price...and then I wouldn't have had to void my warranty!!

And I agree with emcron, a Mids knob would have been nice.

My next beef would have been better pots...I suppose that would have increased the price, but the pots on the more expensive Mustangs are so much better. The amp's saving grace here is that you CAN tweak the settings in Fuse, bypassing the pots on the amp with good results.

And to Metalman50 - I don't see this thread so much as complaining as an honest description of what we percieve to be the amp's shortcomings. Every amp has short comings...I've got a Marshall all-tube head that I love and probably won't ever sell, but it's got shortcomings. I've also got a 10W tube amp I built myself...it's got shortcomings...and I can't blame anyone but myself for those!!! So relax, this kind of thing could be very helpful to someone considering buying one of these amps.

I bought a Mustang 1. The problem was it would make a loud vibrating noise as if there was a loose metal plate in it or something with any bass heavy preset and the volume above 3-4. I exchanged that amp for another, same problem, so returned it to the store and bought a Mustang 3.

I bet a partially opened back would have stopped it, but I could not get the back off without damaging it to try that.

Muleya, and to the rest of you, what do you really expect for a 100.00 amp? I could see wanting more features on a expensive amp if it is lacking features that you think it should have had like the ext. speaker output jack that was mentioned here. The mustang I has fuse software that adds a lot of extra in depth tweaking for a 100.00 amp,the peavey vypyr 15 does not have software like this so that you can tweak and change the cab models for example like you can in the mustang I,maybe a new version of the mustang will add some more features but for now you should just be happy with all that you get for your money with the mustang I. You could pay 100.00 for one boss stompbox pedal! Now thats something you could complain about.

For $100 it's hard to complain but I really don't like top mounted controls.

I just bought a Mustang 1 for 99.00 dollars. I have a EpiphoneDot 335 and within two days I had the clean jazz sound. What do you people want? Come on it is not 3000.00 dollars

Hey, speaking for myself, I'm not knocking what I got for $100. I am just stating what I see to be it's shortcomings. These are the kinds of things that I'd want to know if I was considering buying one...this kind of stuff would help me make my choice. For example, do I spend the extra for a model with more features, or will something from Brand X suit my preferences better?

Having said that, I'd have happily paid another $25 for better pots, a mid control and an external speaker jack!! (especially considering the parts and labor would have cost Fender a fraction of that!)

Come on. What do i dislike? NOTHING.

I've had my Mustang I for over a year, and I love it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it's the most fun I've had with $100!

You can't even buy one of it's many effects for $100, never mind get a great sounding pure Fender amp that's loaded with features. Sure I would like front mounted controls and external speaker out, but I don't dislike the amp because it doesn't have them yet. Nor would I not buy it because of the lack of them. Personally, I can't wait to see what they do with the next edition. A little encouragement goes a long way.
