i have a small mixer that i am running my mic and acoustic through, i get the clean sound when i plugg it in the back of the amp through the fx input but my recording software does not Recognize the feed, but when i plug the mixer into the actual input it does. This will not work for me as the amp is distorting the mic & guitar as per what ever channel I'm using. Basically i want the sound I'm getting through the rear of the amp to record on my software but the USB is not sending the info to my PC......suggestions?

Hey walker,

Are you trying to record through USB or through the FX send on the back of the amp? One has nothing to do with the other.

The clean sound i'm getting through the FX through the speaker is the sound i want record via the USB.

mic/guitar plugged into mixer, mixer plugged into MustangIII fx -----results the sound i'm looking to record through the USB, but my software does not pick up the signal from the fx.

if i do this - mic/guitar plugged into mixer, mixer plugged into MustangIII input, the mic and guitar are distorted or playing through the preset amp and is not getting the sound i'm getting through the fx port, but mysoftware will pick up the signal from the input port.

Ok. I think I understand. The reality is that only the signal from the guitar input on the amp is passed through to the USB port. Anything connected to the FX jacks will not be passed to the USB port for recording.

Try downloading the preset I uploaded called "Empty". No amp/effects, so it may sound better when you plug into the amp's input.

PITA

When 50 bucks will buy you a perfectly good interface for recording something other than a guitar, why would you want to record thru your amp? It's made for recording guitar and in my opinion it only does a fair job at that. I just ranted on another thread about the same thing. It nifty and neat to plug your amp straight into the computer...it really helps for tweaking sounds but if you are seriously tone minded buy a separate interface and stick a microphone in front of that fine amp of yours and TURN IT UP! There are plenty of reasons for not wanting to do that but, you are probably smart enough to figure out situations where you are able to turn up and not piss off your parents or neighbors. NOTHING comes even close to doing it that way. You won't be happy with anything else either once you get the hang of recording a guitar the way it was meant to be heard. I promise.
