I do not remember if anyone tried to swap there mustang speaker for another one to see if they still had the fizz problem? It might be worth a try, also i would rule out any cabinet buzzes and vibrations because i had these problems with my peavey vypyr 15 and 30,i had to use weather stripping, felt and internal bracing to solve my buzzes. Maybe that is why fender said that over time all mustang III-V's will develop the fizz problem(these amps are much louder with a higher watt rating then the mustang I or II and may cause a fizz type problem because of this)? It may take a while for the speaker to break in and loosen up enough to cause cabinet vibration or some kind of speaker fizz problem from maybe the dust cap becoming loose?

Fender confirmed to me that it is an issue with the electronic modeling and not a physical problem that could be fixed mechanically.

Definitely not the speaker. The mustang V heads fizz through non-fender cabs as well.

I also have a mustang V head that i run through a line 6 spider 4x12 cab and i do not have any fizz yet and i hope it never happens but i know it is only a matter of time for me if fender is right about getting this problem in the future, that is why i brought up the possibility of the fizz being a speaker problem,i am not using the fender 4x12 cab and i was not sure about how many here tried different speakers or cabinets with there mustangs.

About your comment "fender said that over time all mustang III-V's will develop the fizz problem"...can you point me to that original statement from them?

I do not rememeber a bulletin by them to that effect.

Tried various Celestions, Eminences and others in my Mustang IV when I had it.

No effect on the digital sounding fizziness which eventually developed, but did do wonders for the rather odd super high end some of the clean models had which I couldn't get rid of otherwise.

Shame, as the amp rapidly progressed from 'Hey, this is really rather nifty for the money', through 'Actually, I'm going to make this my main gigging amp', to 'Hmm. Something sounds a bit odd' to 'OMGWTFBBQIamgoingtosetfiretothisthinginaminute', ending in 'Ah, good, it sold on eBay!'.

Think I nearly spent as much trying to sort the fizziness out as I did buying the amp in the first place.

Yes,my wording is a little different but still gets my point across on this statement,go to the topic Mustang III-Digital Aliasing(Strange Fizz Sound),then go to page 41 and 10 posts down and here is some of what brucefulton said:After a go-around with local warranty service, Fender consumer service confirmed to me yesterday what a Fender tech told my local warranty center a few days previously -- that all the mustangs III and up demonstrate this artifact (fizz), or will, and that they consider this within spec.

How long did you have your mustang V before it started to fizz?

This is my second Mustang V, the first one burned up in about an hour and a half after it got off of the UPS truck.. I think this one has been doing it since I got it, really don't notice it when jamming in a band situation and at those levels, just when I am sitting in my studio it is noticeable.

I got it hooked up to an ext. cab with two 16ohm Texas Heats. The main reason I got it was to take it practice jamming, because my buddy has a Peavey Classic 100 head with a 4 x12 and a 4 x 10 and likes to turn it up a little and I do not like dragging my tube amps around to much. After the first couple of power chords with the Mustang V cranked up, he turned his rig down.

One thing about the Mustang V is it will make some ball busting loudness and it is a good all around jamming amp. I can live with the fizz for now as long as it does not any get worse, but like I said at louder settings it really is not bad. I have paid more for one effects pedal than I did for that amp so I am not complaining. I usually use my effects pedals and a clean setting, unless I want to piss my friend off and crank up one of the metal presets. Man that thing will get loud. I have hooked the effects loop out to my Motion Sound KP200S for some real fun and loudness.

My main amps are a Blues Deluxe Reissue and a Blues Jr. that I hook up in stereo and have ext. cabs for them with Cannabis Rex speakers loaded up. If I want good clean tone for gigging and recording I use my tube amps mostly, but I have recorded some tracks with the Mustang V and I can get a nice heavy wall of guitar sound in the mix...
