Hello!

What's the best way to hookup a Zoom G9.2tt to a Mustang V head?

I'm not using a V cabinet. I'm using just the V head and Zoom effects pedal for recording on a computer via a TASCAM US-144 MKii USB interface.

There are +4/-10db switches on the zoom output and effects loop. What are the specs on the V head effects loop and V output?

What kind of cables are used between the zoom and the V head effects loop?

What kind of cables are used when the V head is used as an effect in the Zoom (the V head can be used as an amp in the zoom)?

I looked through the manual and several forums and found no concrete info.

In advance, thanks for your help. :D

The Effects Loop on the Mustang III, IV, and V amps were mainly designed for Rack Effect units. I have read (from my Marshall JVM manual) that the +4/-10db switch is for the purposes of not blowing out your stomp pedals if you try to use them there. (+4db is for rack units while -10db is for your stomp boxes, since stomp boxes were designed to be ran IN FRONT of your amp, before the pre-amp stage.) I'll assume at this point that the same goes for your G9.2tt.

Which cables should you use? I have no idea, but someone else on here should. You could also ask around at your local music store. They sell all kinds of cables like that.

The Mustang V output ports are 75watt output, set for 8ohm speaker resistance. These were designed to drive speakers, NOT a line out into another device. Trying to hook up your computer or your G9 using these ports could conceivably burn out not only your power-amp in the Mustang V but also damage the internal circuitry of the G9, bricking the thing. Don't try it.

Hello!

Thank you for your reply.

The Zoom G9.2tt is an effects rack/stomp box all in one unit depending upon how it is wired into the rig. Hence, the confusion in getting it hooked up.

I am aware of all the info you posted. Particularly, the V head is being monitored for recording via the V head effects loop sends, not the speaker outputs!

The info I am looking for is:

1. What are the specs on the effects loop inputs and outputs on the V head (high impedance, or low impedance).

2. What cables should be used when plugging the V head into the zoom effects loop.

3. What cables should be used when plugging the zoom into the V head effects loop.

4. Can both be accomplished simultaneously (one patch into the zoom effects loop, another into the V head effects loop). The zoom facilitates this type of switching.

Hey RCBGotTeleToo,

1. The nominal level on the Mustang V's FX Loop is -10dBV.
2. I"m not too familiar with the Zoom unit but according to their site it accepts 1/4" plugs. 3. So does the Mustang V.
4. I"m not familiar enough with the Zoom unit to answer that question accurately.
