This is a recording (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIlhoRx0ges) I made using my hot-rodded MIM strat into a Fender Mustang III, via the USB connection directly into my computer. All guitar tracks were recorded with the Mustang III and most guitar tracks have been doubled and panned a bit to create a big stereo field.

This SRV tone is really amazing considering the Mustang amp line are very affordable. This tone I used is also not exclusive to the III, as it can be achieved with the II as well.

Sounds fantastic! Any chance you could share the amp settings, or upload the preset to FUSE?

I am using the Bassman model with an OD pedal placed AFTER the amp. Here is the link to the clean tone "CM Robben Ford Clean":

Here is the link to the OD tone "CM SRV OD":

I hope they work well for you.

This is definitely a neck pickup tone.

Since we're in USB recording - here's what I recorded through USB:

Although I do find the USB to be very tone-altering when used for recording.. The amp sound is 100x better than the tone I actually recorded.

Thanks for the links Jip. Turns out, being the SRV fan that I am, I already had "CM SRV OD" in my library. But it had a little too much OD for my taste. The "CM Robben Ford" preset was more to my taste. Just something I noted: I never liked the OD after the amp because it makes for a very tinny tone. But when I rolled my guitar volume from 10 down to about 8 I hit the sweet spot. I'm getting some great SRV vibe with it!

I somewhat agree. Especially when using effects, they tend to sound exaggerated when you record. So I usually back off the effects before I record. But I've noticed that if you tweak your preset while listening on headphones, you get closer to the actual sound you will hear when you record.

Yeah the volume knob tweak is a great idea. seems that a lot of modeling amps react quite differently to a small change in volume.
