Hi,
I'm friend of piorekf, author of PLUG. Once he asked me if I could package his program for openSUSE. So I did. I've also created packages for Fedora and Mandriva.
You can get them here: Download PLUG.

-------------------------------

I've also found that on openSUSE Build Service there is available mingw cross toolchain (in other words: tools to compile windows programs on linux) with already packaged libraries like GTK and Qt. So I created libusb and PLUG cross compiled packages and that's it!

You can get the PLUG for windows (both 32bit and 64bit version available) here: Download PLUG. (just unpack and run)
(wallpaper used in screenshot: http://fav.me/d2t3ae0)

WARNING: Keep in mind that it might not work correctly. I don't have any Mustang amplifier, so I haven't tested if the usb connection works. Also on http://libusb.org/wiki/windows_backend there is written that windows backend is still experimental!

-------------------------------

Effusive thanks, bug-reports, fixes and enhancements you may discuss here or mail me: etampl at opensuse.org

The Download Plug link goes to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3hvu950ls805jp1/plug

Sadly it says "Access to this link has been disabled. Please ask the owner of the shared link to send a new link to access the file or the folder."

I really dont want to have to get my head around compiling Plug for Windows... I dont want to use Fuse because of Silverlight and undisclosed methods of getting through my firewall;

How can I get this tasty compiled Binary?

Please explain what this means and provide evidence? What does FUSE do that (deliberately) circumvents a firewall? AFAIK all it does is use an ordinary browser-like http connection to connect to the FUSE website?

Hmmm. Silverlight may have turned-out to be a dead-end technology, and everyone who built apps based on it may now be regretting the choice (Fender and many others included), and all such apps may have to change to a different technology to move forwards, all of which can make us look at Silverlight with disdain, but...

Why should that fundamentally stop you using FUSE? It's not perfect but it does the job, mostly well. To boycott it because it uses Silverlight seems rather dogmatic?

I guess that means he'll be boycotting Netflix as well since it's still using Silverlight.

My guess is that this has disappeared for a reason. Individual development efforts like this tend to end up being pretty good "proof of concept" efforts, but aren't very close at all to well-tested and supported commercial grade products. I suspect the developer found out how demanding it was to try and respond to the various questions and problems people were encountering with his effort so he went dark so he could have a life. That's just the typical hallmark of Linux...write once, debug everywhere.

As much as I'd like to see the functionality of FUSE opened up to software developers, I wouldn't touch anything that hasn't been through a professional software development process with adequate testing and support.

(Sorry, couldn't resist  )

Not to go too far off-topic, but just to comment: That's true of any one-man-and-his-dog software, for any OS. It's not a Linux thing. Indeed, Linux distros and applications in their official repos are probably some of the best-tested and supported software available (excluding deliberately experimental distros of course).
