I might be totally off base here but, as far as I can tell from all the posts on this subject, all the fizzing reports seem to come from the US or countries with 110/120 v mains, rather than UK 220/240v. I've also spoken to a couple of big music stores in the UK, and they've never encountered it or had a return due to fizz.

So, to see if there's any validity in this theory and whether the power transformer may be a possible factor, I thought I'd ask if any UK owners have this fizz - or not? If you're UK or 220/240v country (& please state country when responding) please post 'yay OR nay' to whether you have fizz!

This post is only for UK customers and those with 220/240v mains in their country. If you're US or in another country with 110/120v mains I'd be most grateful if you DIDN'T contribute to this thread simply because we know there's a problem in countries with this voltage.

Best

Rich

UK here - fizzed like the contents of a soft drink truck with dodgy suspension. Very noticeable when playing very clean with the guitar volume rolled back. Sounded like someone playing a faint kazoo along with my Strat.

I'm almost 100% that it's aliasing noise, as it seems to get hugely worse as the input level gets lower, which sounds very much like the behaviour of a low spec A/D converter to me. I have a couple of other cheap digital units which do exactly the same thing and are confirmed to have ADC resolution issues.

Give it a hot input signal it it was fine, but I ride the volume control a lot when I play, so it started to niggle me hugely on quieter numbers.

Hence I sold it!

Back to my pedals into an old tube rig now, which hisses, clicks, hums and buzzes like there's no tomorrow. But none of that interferes with the actual tone of the notes I'm playing, so I can tolerate it.
