I just purchased a mustang iii & have a few questions

I have the two button footswitch & was wonder if it is possible to pick several favorite (say 4-5) & use the footswitch to toggle between just these (I understand I could delete 4-5 presets & the replace them w/ my favorites but is this the only way?)

Also I really don’t know much about amps/effects & did a search but haven’t really found where to start. So, I am looking for Allman brothers/warren Haynes/southern rock sound, could someone tell me where to get started?

One last question (at least for now), I was told by someone that playing an acoustic through an electric amp would trash it? I have also read that you can. Does anyone know which is correct?

Thanks

On the amp, you have the "util" button to set your 2 "quick acces" (QA1 and QA2) favorite that you will call with your footswitch.

If there is nothing in the fender comunity, try to set up the sound yourself. Get the info on what kind of amp the groups you like uses and add the few effect to approach the sound.

No probleme to plugg an accoustic in the mustang. However i dont know how hat could sound. Be carefull if you have a piezzo pickup not to go on larsen. Play gentely with the master.

You can definitely set up two Quick Access Presets. If you purchase the four button footswitch you can set 3 Presets.

Regarding the acoustic on the Mustang, just try it. You won't damage the amp at all.

FWIW -

With the 4-button footswitch, I keep the main preset I like on '0' since that is what it defaults to every time the amp in powered on. Then I set the 3 quick access presets I like to QA1, QA2, QA3 in utilities menu. After that I will keep presets I like in slot 10,20,30,40 etc. (every 10) so I can use the 4-button footswitch to toggle up/down by 10 ('banks' of 10), or by 1 preset.

So, I guess you could call this 13 Quick Access Spots to use to go up/down on the 4-button footswitch. Also handy to keep the 2-button footswitch set to up/down for when you go elsewhere on the 4-button switch.

It works ok for me, but it would be better if there were some more options in the utilities menu.... such as..... reverb on/off isn't an option for the 4-button switch... (that I have noticed).

Another thing I just noticed.... If you are on a preset and change something (like volumn) and the red light comes on so you have the option to save the change.... if you then use up/down on the footswitch... the 'amp' in use will change in the preset you are on. I'm not saying this is bad, its something I just noticed. Don't hit save by mistake.... posssibly a good reason to keep 'memory lock' turned On in the utilities menu.

No problem using an acoustic guitar through your Mustang, I do it all the time. While it doesn't sound as good as a dedicated acoustic guitar amplifier, with the right preset it really doesn't sound bad.
I don't use it as my main amplification with an acoustic - I set it up to run as a monitor and go direct through the PA.

That is right on...use the PA for your acoustic, it will be much warmer.

I plug my accustic into the effects loop return input, bypassing the modeller entirely.

I use both the 4 button and 2 button footswitches, and I swear by its usefulness. The 4 button is for three presets, and the 2 button for banking up and down. Of course I am using about 50 presets with my band, so I'm still over at the amp changing between some songs. But I could not live without the numerical display of the four so I know I am using the right preset.
