Wow, I'm stumped! I saw the AmpliTube Fender icon on your desktop, so I'm assuming the software was installed, but where the .dll is stored on your PC, I have no idea.

Go to IK and download the free AmpliTube 3 http://www.ikmultimedia.com/amplitubefree/features/ for WIN-7. It has the same models, and maybe it has the correct .dll file.

The free AmpliTube 3 is pretty good, it has more amp models, including Fender LE models.

I've had my Mustang I for just about a year, and during this time I was moving and didn't have my primary PC where I could install the Ableton Live Lite 8 Fender Edition recording software. Yesterday I finally had time (and found the Mustang DVD) to install the program and now want to share some tips with future users.

First thing is that Live has two views, Arrangement View & Session View (SV), it's in Arrangement View (AV) where you first want to start to record. In AV you can also view the browsers that list effects and plug-ins.

I always start off with a drum pattern, Live has quite a few drums patterns, here I chose 'Kit - Largen' in AV, Image

But I found that you have to be in SV to select all the elements of the drums to be played Image. I 'dragged' the drum loop to make a 3 min recording.

Next I recorded a simple rhythm guitar vamp using AmpliTube Fender LE plug-in Image

I want to note that I used a Cakewalk UA-4FC USB external audio capture device, I have the UA-4FC selected in the hardware config as the audio-in/out. I also want to note that the you must arm the track (by pressing the icon, see pic) in order to hear what you're playing.

Next I recorded a bass track using my Fender Squier P-Bass and a bass effect plug-in Live
Image

I want to note that you must drag any plug-in or effects into the Audio Effects at the bottom of the recording grid.

Next I recorded a lead guitar using my Mustang, here you have to select the Mustang as the audio input, and in my case, the UA-4FX as the audio output.
Image

You must also have to select Fender ASIO as the audio device. But, I found that the Mustang's input levels were really low. I had to lower the track volumes on the other track in order to hear the Mustang. If someone has a answer about this, please post here.

Next I added a couple of synth tracks using my Axiom 25 USB keyboard MIDI controller. At first I have Live open, and it didn't 'see' my Axiom 25 as a source. I finally remembered that even using Reaper, that I had to have the Axiom connected, and turned on first, than open the DAW software.

After I did this Live 'saw' the Axiom as a external device, and I was able to play the soft-synths plug-ins Image.

I may later render the tracks, and upload later, but this was mainly a test, and to learn Live. I hope this post helps someone to record.

Thanks tony, I'm sure weal use this one. 8)
----Danny,

Please explain exactly what you do, what you see and at what point it doesn't work.

Have you installed the ASIO driver - either Fender's or ASIO4ALL?

These articles may help you, suggest you read them if you haven't already as they cover in some detail how to record from the Mustang amps:
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... recording/
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... io-driver/
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... -computer/

It sounds like you've already done the following, but I incldue it for completeness:

Thanks Scott, for taking the time.

Yes, I installed the ASIO4ALL Driver.

I don't think I have this...

"you will need to have a playback device installed." unless that is my sound card.

Basically I have no sound, in either Abelton or Amplitude3.

Let me go and check out the rest of your links.

edit....
Ok, under Audio setup/ Input Channel : I don't get "Mustang Amplifier 1" as an option.

Yes your sound card is what you want to use here.

OK, that suggests Ableton can't find your ASIO driver, or perhaps the ASIO driver can't find the amp. (I assume the amp is connected to the PC and turned on, and that you've confirmed the USB connection is good by doing some stuff with FUSE just to check all that works? Yes I know FUSE uses different drivers, not ASIO, but it's still a good test for the basic USB connectivity)

What operating system and version? Some people have reported problems with ASIO drivers on Windows 8, others seem to have it working fine.

Yes, Fuse is working ok.

I initially downloaded the Fender ASIO driver, but there was an error when I installed it so I then found and installed the "ASIO4ALL" .

I have a 64bit m/c running windows 7.

Also, I am getting this red cross...?

Image

edit

I am getting noise from Amplitude now, but it's a horrible squeal.

edit

I have amplitube set up, the noise was from feed back..... had the computer mic on

Now if I can get Abelton working.....

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but "Mustang Amplifier" is visible in the screenshot you posted? What happens if you try to select it?

The screen shot is after I got that part sorted

I still haven't got Abelton working and the sound from Amplitube is not very good quality, I am guessing that might be due to my speakers....?

How do you turn of the pre-sets on Fuse? You would need a basic/no effects at all sound going into Amplitube... right?

Also after I shut down Amplitube, I have no sound on my computer.
