Hi, so, me and my band have a problem, that's that the voice can't be heared because the sound of the guitars don't let it to be heard. My question is, can I connect a Shure mic. to my Mustang I amp.?

Sorry for my Bad English.

Hey Incifyin,

The Mustang I is a guitar amp and cannot accept signal from any other type of device. Attempting to connect another type of device can void your warranty.

Why not just get a portable PA? They can be had for @$100 on ebay.

Then why on earth did Fender put an aux in on the amp? Of course the amps accepts other
signals.

I think Loren was concerned the original poster was going to use the Mustang I as a PA System and plug a microphone into the instrument input. From my read of the original post I kind of get that may be what he is asking as well.

I would second the suggestion of getting a portable PA system...

A PA system may be what they need but with an aux in the Mustang is asking for all kinds of waves to be played through it besides a guitar and it's absurd to say that will void the warranty. It says right on the fender web page:

Aux Input
Auxiliary input for jamming along with a media player.

Here's an answer: You cannot connect a mic directly. However, you could get a cheap preamp for the mic (with variable output level) and use a stereo miniplug to feed the sound into the amp's Aux input, with decent results. You'll probably need a mic preamp with XLR connector(s). Low-end preamps can be had for $30 - $40 in U.S., but of course high quality is expensive. Multi-channel preamps can mix several mics into one output.

Still easier and better to spend the cash on an inexpensive portable PA. Lots more options available that way.

I was referring to plugging a mic into the instrument jack. I apologize if my response wasn't thorough enough.
