I have a Boss FV-50 volume pedal in my Mustang V's FX loop. Does anyone know if there's a way of 'virtually' assigning the volume pedal before time-based effects (so that the reverb/delay continues to 'trail off' if I do volume swells, like it would if I placed a volume pedal in front of the amp?

Cheers,

Trygve

That's kind of Boss GT-X territory. I believe the Mustangs have a fixed placement for the effects loop but you're right, the loop should be placed before the reverb and delay. We might have to wait for the next version of the Mustangs for this to happen. :(

Hey Guys,

Unfortunately, the FX Loop is placed after the modeling by default. It may be possible to change that via software. Perhaps this will happen in a future update to Mustang firmware.

Hi.
I have a question related to the FX loop.
I cannot get the sound of my external FX plug into FX send/returm of the mustang to be outputed via USB.
All effect that is plugged into the FX loop of the mustang doesnt seems to be outputed via USB.
Is it normal ? Or how can i change that ?

RGDS.

That's actually normal. The FX loop comes in just before the power amp section. Currently, there's no way to change the configuration.

Along the same line.......When I plug in cables to take a split from the fx send the original signal still runs thru to the power amp, usually in my other amps when I plugged into the fx send it cut off the signal to the power amp until I returned into the fx return. Can someone indicate if this is normal? It seems to complicate things and mess-up the sound and volume levels.I've got the latest firmware installed. Thanks in anticipation.

I believe Loren explained this in some prior thread; you can monitor via the Mustang's speaker, controlling the volume with the Mustang's master volume, turning it all the way down if desired.

Or, you can stick a dummy plug into the effects return jack, which *will* defeat the Mustang's speaker.

Thanks PITA the dummy plug did the trick.I intend to split out via fx send to the mixer and return via aux in with a mix off the desk and use the Mustang's power amp for an onstage monitor(I've got an M5 so I can plug-in whatever speakers I want).I'll let you know in a couple of weeks after the gig.Cheers all.

Ah, now I see where you were going--glad you got it to work the way you need. Have fun at the gig.

I also have a question about the FX loop,i want to patch my BBE sonic maximizer in the loop but i want to hook it up in mono not stereo, can i just use the single 1/4" send and return jacks or do i have to use a 1/4" Y type cable for both send and return jacks?

One cable ought to do it, Metalman50. The second connector only matters if the incoming signal is actually stereo and is sending two different signals to each connector.
BTW, wouldn't the Sonic maximizer make the amp sound really bright and bassy or can you select what frequencies it enhances?

I have an older dual mono 462 model that i had hooked up in my recording studio setup but i am using a behringer ultramizer pro now because it sounds warmer for my recordings but anyway i have the BBE 462 running into the front end of my mustang V and it does sound good and yes it does have lo contour and process knobs for control of the lo and high frequencies but it makes my mustang V very noisy for some reason(it was not noisy at all when it was in my studio setup),thats is why i want to try it in the mustangs FX loop. The BBE brings out more definition and clarity on some guitars that i use that are a little muddy sounding and i do not use it all the time with every amp model, just the ones i think the BBE sounds better with,i just use the bypass switch for comparison. Here is a tip for anyone that has a BBE or wants to get one,set the low contour no higher then a 12:00 position(mine is set at 11:00) and set the process control to no higher then 11:00,(i have mine set to 9:00),these are the settings i use with my mustang V.

I did it today.....open air gig no amps on stage ,everything through mixer.Took a split from fx out on M5(fizz free) ,dummied the fx in,and from the monitor send on the mixer I came back into the M5 via the aux in for onstage monitoring.I don't usually do this as I play surf music but today we had 4 singers and so a mixer was needed and i didn't have another power amp for monitoring so.....I cheated. :D Hopefully pics 'n vid coming soon.Cheers all
