Updating Fuse will generally have no impact on your presets - it updates features of the programme, but leaves the preset files, which are stored on your amp and computer, untouched.

However, it could be that if the Fuse update includes changes to a particular effect, and that effect is included in one of your presets, that aspect of the preset will change.

So, for example if the Fuse update adds a new knob to an effect, and you have that effect in one of your presets, the new knob will show up when you load that preset.

Sorry to be so long-winded, but I can't think of any easier way of explaining it !

Certainly no new amp models, and only a few other fairly minor tweaks. I think the 'official' post at the top of the forum has a link to the details of what is in the update.

It is really hard to believe that a 300+MB download has so few improvements, did fuse 2.4.0 have to be such a large program without adding any new effects and or amp models? what are all the extra MB'S used for?

Fender does not release patches per se, every new release is essentially the entire program.

You are not really updating Fuse, you are reinstalling a newer version of Fuse.

Your presets are not stored with the application so they should remain untouched.

This idea that fuse can add new effects or amp models is wrong I think. Think of it like a remote control for your television. It can't make the TV do new things.

Yes, it's a big. The guys over at the PLUG project have figured out how to do it without .net and silverlight for Linux. Take a look here: http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/plug-and-fender-mustang The act of selecting effects and models and sending presets is probably pretty lightweight.

It's the other stuff that probably adds bulk to Fuse that PLUG can't do - like Media Management and searching the Web for presets. The darn thing is a Web browser too. It can play mp3's etc. Rather than re-invent the wheel for these things they probably use a big heavy toolkit.

I agree. Any new amp models would have to be done via a firmware update as Fuse is just software used as a control for the deeper parameters in the amp. Fuse is not the amp itself.

O.

Did anyone notice any difference in the tone of there mustang after any of the new firmware or fuse updates? i updated my mustang V today with firmware 1.8.0 and it seems like the gain is slightly higher on the fender clean models also i notice it on the metal 2000 and american 90's models, the presets i saved before are still there but the pre amp gain seems to overload my input gain now,i did not notice this before,i tweaked my mustang and it seems better now. maybe it is just in my head or my ears but if anyone else hears a difference in there mustang after any new updates please let me know?

My mustang V is good after the update,it was my own fault about the higher gain i originally heard on many of the amp models, the problem was a lot of my user presets were programed with my guitars with passive pickups and when i played through my mustang with my new Ibanez Art320 guitar that has active pickups i believe these pickups have a hotter stronger output then my other guitars that have the passive pickups, this pretty much explains the higher gain that i heard through my mustang V. just to let everyone know, the Art320 sounds very good through my mustang V.
