First off as stated, the Mustang 1 is an incredible value, and currently my favorite piece of equipment(aside from guitars that is, lol). The amount of control and variability is outstanding, and I am much happier with the software than I was w/ my Line 6 guitar port software.

But I do have a couple of issues to discuss. Perhaps the mods can look into this.

1. I love the shear endless access to user contributed settings, but I notice there are alot of presets with the same title. Perhaps the uploaded preset should also have the users name or initials included in the title so as to make downloading simpler. Or, maybe just a number automatically suffixed on any duplicate titles. Would make things alot easier.

2. Again, I LOVE the Fuse software. However, unlike the Line 6 software, I cannot use the mouse' scroll function to articulate the selected knobs on the effects/amp settings. For me, this is almost mandatory as it is difficult to fine tune the settings without reducing the sensitivity of the mouse(which is not an option for me).

I do plan on eventually upgrading to the Mustang V. I would love it if these slight issues were no longer a problem, but the software IMHO blows away the Line 6 Guitar Port software.

Thanks Fender, for making such a great amp! I will also be looking into the Bronco 40 and the mini mustang, as well as the M5 in the future.

Hi, LowThudd.

I totally agree. I too am used to using the scroll wheel to adjust parameters. My DAW, Digital Performer, has this implemented fairly thoroughly - it just makes sense. As for Line6's Guitar Port v.s. Fuse/Mustang, there's no comparison IMHO. As I've said before, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Fender actually makes tube amplifiers. Line6? Not so much. Line6 has to me, always had a very static approach to modeling. I haven't checked out the new Pod HD models but the progression of their previous models all did the same thing - to me. None of them paid any attention to the differences in playing response with respect to the different amp models. To me all the models felt exactly the same - like a modern high gain amp geared towards metal rhythm "chugging". The compression algorithms completely sucked to say the least and break-up characteristics in the low to mid gain models were very abrupt. Not at all pleasant to play... horrid in fact.

Hey Guys,

We're glad you like the amp and software. We'll definitely take those suggestions into consideration. If you have anymore please let us know.

Hi Loren,

One idea I've wished for in every modeler I've ever had is to have the ability to mix and match modeled Preamps and Tube Power Amps. Is this too far beyond the DSP capabilities of the Mustangs?
Thanks.

I have noticed, that Mustang is not a friend of my Dunlop Cry Baby. Due to a fact that it is a modeling amp.

Any chance to get sort of an expression pedal released so that we could make some serious wah-wah to the people. Especially when current wah-effects are not at all good this moment. Only distantly sounds something like "wah".

Cheers.

I have a Dunlop Cry Baby and have no problems using it with the Mustang. Are you using it with a very distorted preset? Also, this subject should be a thread of its own. Your Wah problem has nothing to do with the subject of this thread and won't get the attention it needs and deserves. I highly recommend starting a new thread.

Are you referring to a hybrid amp such as the SuperChamp XD? There is a SS preamp section and a tube power amp.

I've spoken to many users that regularly use a wah pedal with their Mustangs. Do you mostly use high gain presets?

Hi Loren,
I'm speaking of the Mustangs and their modeling system. I'm going under the assumption that when Fender modeled the amps to be used in the Mustangs, they paid careful attention not only to the preamp section and the Cab simulations (which is what most companies do [ahem... Line6, Boss, etc.]) but the way the power section reacts to signal load. At least, that's what it sounds like to me. Furthermore, the modeled amps that have Master Volumes in real life also have Master Volumes that appear in the Advanced Amp Parameters while the ones like the Twin and Deluxe do not - just like the real thing. My idea is to separate the modeled power section of each modeled amp so that the user can mix and match preamps and power sections as well as Cab Sims. E.G., a Marshall's preamp going through the Super Sonic's power section or vice versa or a Vox's preamp through a Boogie's power section... or vice versa.
This would completely expand the Mustang's tonal and response palette well beyond what it is now. You could even add a booster post the preamps so as to drive the modeled power section harder while keeping the preamp from distorting.
I think it'd be cool.
Thanks for your time.

O.

Sounded kinda thin in my opinion. Probably have to check it again to see if it's just me. Before M2, I have used my Cry Baby with Vox AC4TV tube combo.

Ditto on the Mustang specific expression pedal. I have thought that would be a great addition. Have not tried a CBaby with mine, though I may be doing so soon.
