Okay, I went and downloaded the new 2.4 version of Fuse and it said I had to close the program to load. I did and when I opened it back up and went to "help" it still says I'm on version 2.3 . . . . so now what?

Hi Roger,

did you run the .exe file that you downloaded?- that will install the new version of fuse over 2.3.0. It will ask you where on the PC you want to install it- make sure you select the same drive and folder as the previous version. Otherwise you will end up with the program installed twice and the desktop links will direct you to the older version.

Good point, but when i down loaded it, the program never asked where it was to be down loaded . . . so where did it put it? It's not on my desktop, I'm running XP so any ideas where it might have put the new download?

Is the account you did the install from a limited user account or an administrative account?

Are you trying to run Fuse from the same account you installed it with?

Typically most people who are paranoid (like me) use an administrative account to install software and a limited account for day to day use.

Fuse is a Silverlight application and when you update it doesn't update the application for every user on the computer. Here is a thread that should provide you with clues on how to update the Silverlight part of Fuse so that the current version will run...

Read towards the bottom of the first page and then the second page...

It sounds like you may have just reinstalled 2.3.

I am assuming you are running Windows, but what version?

You should have a Downloads folder in your Documents folder for your user account...

It also sounds like possibly it may not have successfully download completely...

The first place I'd look is in mydocuments/downloads... if not there then I would use the search function.... just type in the file name and click on search... it will let you know the location if you actually downloaded it...

Well I guess something must have been corrupted the first time I did it since I went back and re downloaded it again and this time it worked, Although the description of 2.4.0 did say that the firmware was bundled with it but my amp still showed the 1.6 version. So I went back and did the firmware download separately . . . hopefully that will do the trick

The Firmware update is going to be a seperate install even though it is bundled with the Fuse update.

Roger,

You probably have figured out/understood most of this by now; but just to be clear, there are two separate things that you are hoping to do:

One, update FUSE: download installer from the Fender site, install on your computer.

Two, update the firmware on the amplifier: this has to be done from the FUSE menus as an explicit operation. If you are using an older FUSE version, then you have to download the new firmware separately, and then tell FUSE you want to use the downloaded version and where it is located. If you are using the new FUSE version, then you should be able to select the option to use the bundled firmware (which at this time is the most current, but will become obsolete if/when another firmware version is released).

If you've followed these steps and it's still showing the old version, then you may want to try again, paying particular attention to see if any errors pop up along the way that might indicate why it's not working (at which point it may make sense to reach out to Fender support with all the information you have, besides posting here).

HTH,

PITA

Well unless I read it wrong, I thought that the info explaining the Fuse up date said it included the firmware up date as well . . . but I guess that was not the case.

The Fuse update DOES include the firmware update within it, but installing that firmware update to the amp is a separate process to installing Fuse - it won't happen automatically.

Once you have the new version of Fuse installed and open on your computer, connect the amp and then select Update Firmware from the Fuse Uitilities menu - it should only take a minute or so; you will see a progress bar on screen.

Thanks, that's exactly what I've done now, I just assumed if it was in the Fuse update it went to the amp as well, now I know.
