Backing tracks are easily stored on a mp3 player plug it into your aux in and play away. I run a cord from the headphone jack on my computer to the amp and play the tracks thru Fuse.

This is what I do too. I also play drum+bass sequences in a DAW (Audacity/Amplitube3/Sonar LE in my case) and monitor through the amp as I play along, record chord progressions, etc.

PITA

well, i returned from GC with a G-DEC3 15w. it was a clearance item. they said its being discontinued. said this one is new, must have been a floor model though no box, no usb cable, no booklet or software. does have a 30 day warranty & what fender offers.

it did power up! paid 239.0

so now off to download the manual & sw, though i already have fuse on this notebook from the mustang-1. as bob marley might say, here's to "jammin".

this lil amp/modeler is pretty cool. looks like it is setup as "blues" . as way more effects than the mustang-1.

of course after i buy it is see amazon and sam ash have the G-DEC3 30w for 299.00 free shipping and no tax. i'm gonna take it back and see if GC will swap and match the amazon price. difference wouldn't be much more than what i paid for the 15w.

wow, way too much fun just making noise with new sounds from this amp. diggin this new tool already

Take a Look at a Mustang III, 100 watts and a 12" speaker The III has more presets and the ability to edit them on the amp. It's 299 online. Checkout Sweetwater.com

I got mine before they had genres in them, but the blues is definitely what I would have gone with. The 30-watt has a ton of I/O features, if you're into that. A very impressive unit to be sure. It has the two-way 10" FRFR closed-back speaker which really rocks the jam trax. And the SD card slot allows endless on board jam tracks.

the only thing i know for sure today is i'm taking the 15w back for refund. if GC will honor the prices on either the Mustange-III and G-DEC-30w then i get one of them (haven't made up me mind yet)

i have a notebook with FUSE so i can play jam-trax on the Mustand III and record myself for critical playback.

glad i've narrowed it down to 2! can't even make me mind up between 2! lol

thx

GC was very helpful today. i was going to get the mustang III but my guitar teacher was there and he ran down a quick comparison. he made some good points regarding tempo and key adjustments that i can do on the 30w that will be good for my practice and learning curve.

i left with the G-DEC3 30w

got a little practice/noodle time in already and i'm pleased. and GC did honor the same price 299.00 that other sites were selling it for. Good experience at GC happy to say.

thanks for all the comments to help

Just my .02$. For $300 you could get the mustang 5 head. If you just want to use headphones, that would be my choice. You can always get a cab later for shows. And you will then have 150 watt over the MIII 100 watt, as well as being in stereo.

The G-Dec 3 does seem like a nice amp though, but considering your headphone-only usage, the M5 would be the best choice IMHO.
